Must Have Red Pom-Pom Sweater

Red Pom Pom Sweater c/o use code dailyamy15 for 15% off! || Jeans || Earrings || Booties || Watch || Ring

Happy Monday friends!

I hope you all had a great weekend. If you follow me on Instagram / watched my stories you may have known that I had the majority of last week off since I was traveling for work. Even though it was nice to have some time off to relax, I'm so ready to jump back into a routine again. Last week was also when we started to get a taste of actual winter weather again. For the past month or so we've been having a rather mild winter here in the Carolina's with temps being even up in the 70s!

Even though I much rather prefer warmer weather than cold weather, I am excited that I get to sport all of the fun sweaters I've been collecting over the past month or so. The lastest sweater in my collection has been this fun pom-pom red piece! I don't really own a whole lot of red in my wardrobe and I have been loving the pom-pom detail on sweaters as of late. I had shared my first pom-pom sweater in this outfit post last month and have already added two more sweaters to my collection since!

About the fit:

This sweater definitely has a nice cozy oversized fit. I had ordered my normal size medium and love how cozy and oversized it is on me. I have already worn this piece for travel with leggings and how I've styled here front tucked into some high waisted jeans. This piece is $27 (get an extra 15% off with code: dailyamy15) and has held up well during several washes so far as well as come in three other colors.

My New Obsession: Statement Jackets

Pink Fur Coat c/o use code: dailyamy15 for 15% off || Top || Jeans || Shoes || Simliar Earrings || Similar Purse

Ok ladies, let's talk about jackets.

I don't know about you all, but for the longest time outerwear has always been the last thought when it comes to putting together an outfit. My thought process was if I'm not spending the whole day wondering outside, why does it matter what I throw on? I typically have my outfit all set and then just throw on my black heavy-duty rain jacket and call it a day. I mean, I'm only going to wear it to and from the car, what does it matter?

In the last month or so my mentality of jackets and outerwear has changed. I've fallen down the hole of fur coats and colored leather jackets that I don't think I can ever go back to my boring rain jacket again. I mean who knew how much your look can change by throwing on a fun jacket or how easy it is to put together look by simply throwing on a statement jacket?

Hang with me for a sec.

Picture this, you have your favorite graphic tee on and some cute high waisted jeans. What jacket you throw on will completely change up the look. Want a more girly look? How about a pink fur coat. Edgy? A classic leather jacket. Cool and casual? How about a fun oversized denim jacket? The possibilities are endless ladies and gents.

Shop some of my favorite statement coats:

I had managed to snag this fun little fur coat from one of my favorite online retailers, SheIn and it just may be a new closet favorite. This piece gives just the right amount of sass and the pearls add a fun little touch. I recently wore this outfit out for a fun date night look, but think it could be super cute with a white top and some light wash jeans to carry you into the spring.

Comfy Travel Outfit + I'M GOING TO PERU!

In case you didn't catch it from the title... I'm GOING TO PERU! Yep, that's right, ya girl will be spending 9 solid days hiking and making some friends with cute little llamas and I couldn't be more excited.

Hi friends!

The news is out! In about two months I'll be jetting off to South America to explore the beautiful country of Peru. This trip has been booked since last September and since then I've been counting down the days till we set off.

I've been hinting in a few blog posts that I have been saving for a big upcoming trip and this was it! We actually got a killer deal on the airplane ticket which I'm pumped about. For the trip, I'll be joining my boyfriend's parents on a tour with about 30 other people in Cusco and we'll be ending our trip with a couple days in Lima. Our trip itinerary includes quite a bit of hiking with our last day being Machu Picchu! I'm so excited to be able to see it before they close it down to the public.

Naturally, I've been doing so much research for my upcoming trip which includes the types of food to try, what the culture is like, and of course, brushing up on my Spanish. I'm so excited to be a part of this trip and can't wait to take you all along!

MY GO-TO TRAVEL OUTFIT:

Let's take a quick second and chat about travel outfits. This trip may be my longest travel day I've had yet (20ish hours!). Comfort over everything especially if you're about to embark on a long plane ride. I know people tend to like to wear sweats or leggings to the airport, but recently I've found a good comfy pair of jeans are my bottom of choice when flying. Hear me out.

Sure leggings are great and super comfortable, but the biggest con about them is that they don't have pockets. How many times have you been running around the airport with your suitcase in hand, backpack strapped, and juggling to hold your passport, ticket, and phone all in one hand? Sure you can keep your phone in your backpack or tote, but if you're like me and are super paranoid at all times, you like to keep your phone on you and easily accessible. By wearing jeans you have the option to sneak your phone in your back pocket and any other little necessities (aka lip balm because who likes chapped lips??) on you at all times.

Comfy travel outfit - Marley Lilly

The next go-to article of clothing for me is a cozy pullover sweater. Airports and airplanes tend to get chilly and having a little sweater to throw on are always handy - plus you can always use it as a little pillow if you want to take a quick nap. This boyfriend pullover from Marley Lilly is definitely going to be my new go-to travel sweater. It's SO soft and the cute monogram pocket adds a nice touch. This would be such a cute little travel gift to give if you're traveling with friends/family!

Lastly, comfy shoes. This is pretty much a no-brainer, but make sure you're wearing shoes you're able to get to your connecting flight in. My white shoreline converse is a go-to shoe for me on an everyday basis, to begin with, but they're also a great travel shoe as well because they can be easily slipped on and off which makes airport security a breeze.

6 SQUAT PROOF Leggings to Checkout

2020 goal: no more see-through leggings.

Ellie Activewear Maroon Set - 6 SQUAT PROOF Leggings to check out

Activewear Top + Bottom c/o || Similar Jacket || Running Shoes || Watch

Ok ladies, it's 2020, why are see-through leggings a thing? One of the most frustrating things about shopping for activewear especially online is finding a cute pair, ordering it, receiving it, and then find out that you can't bend over or move in them. The. Worst.

I mean, what's the point of wearing a pair of leggings to the gym if you can't move without the fear of flashing everyone? Have no fear. Today on the blog I'm rounding up 7 of my favorite squat-proof leggings that you need to check out! Here's to crushing our fitness goals this year and looking cute while doing so!

Ellie Activewear Maroon Set - 6 SQUAT PROOF Leggings to check out

#1. Old Navy - High-Waisted Elevate 7/8 Compression Leggings

If you've been around here for a hot minute then you know that my Old Navy leggings are by far one of my favorite leggings. For one, the price point for them is great. They are normally priced at $25- $45 and Old Navy is frequently having sales on them. The High - Waisted Elevate Compression Leggings are my personal favorite because they have the right amount of compression that sucks you in a bit and with them being a high-rise fit I don't have a problem with them slipping while I workout.

I still own my first couple of pairs of activewear leggings from Old Navy and they are still holding up pretty well after wearing them at least once a week. I will say, I tend to stick to only the black colored leggings from Old Navy as they don't show sweat, and the main ones I find to be squat proof. The colored leggings are great for lounging around, but some of the lighter colors tend to not be as squat proof.

#2. Fabletics: High-Waisted PowerHold 7/8

I own a couple pairs of Fabletic leggings and I will say they hold up to the hype. They are super soft, comfortable, don't ride down, and most importantly, are squat proof. They were a top contender next to Old Navy as my favorite leggings, but since these are priced a little higher than what I am comfortable paying for activewear, they are ranked as my second favorite.

I purchased my first two leggings with their intro 2 for $24 sale and since signed up for their VIP program. Their leggings range from about $70 - $85 but if you are a VIP member you do have the option to purchase a whole outfit from $49.95 - $75. Unlike most leggings I've tried, Fabletic leggings do not have a top seem on the band which makes it really comfortable and lie flat which I love.

#3. Gym Shark - Vital Seamless

I've heard so many good things about Gym Shark leggings and knew I wanted to try them out for myself. My first impression of them when I put them on is that they are a lot thinner than the other leggings in my collection. The waistband is also a lot higher of a waist than my other leggings, which I don't mind.

As for pricing, I had purchased these during their blackout sale and they were about $18ish and they normally retail for $30 - $60. I will also note that these leggings are longer than the other leggings I have in my collection and tend to bunch up at my ankles (I'm 5'4" for reference). Another thing to note is that with the combination of the extremely high waist and material, these tend to give me a camel toe and I tend to wear it with longer shirts if I do opt for these leggings.

#4. Forever 21

Ok, Forever 21 can be pretty hit or miss with their quality and really I mainly shop there for their sports bras, but I've managed to find a couple leggings I've liked. I suggest going in-store to try them on, but I've found ones that are made of the nylon and spandex blend are the best. Their leggings are by the far the most affordable out of the bunch ranging from $18 - $23 with sales happening often.

Ellie Activewear Maroon Set - 6 SQUAT PROOF Leggings to check out

#4. Aerie - Play Real Me High Waisted 7/8 Leggings

I had heard the rave of Aerie leggings for a while, and mainly through my roommate/cousin so I thought I'd finally try them out. I opted for the Play Real Me High-Waisted 7/8 Leggings (see a trend here?). The first impression is that these are a lot thinner compared to my Old Navy and Fabletic leggings. The material is a lot silkier as well. I will say since these are a lot lighter of material they're great for hot yoga or my HIIT classes.

The main con about these is that they do not have the "suck you in" factor that I love about my other leggings, but these are comfortable for running around for errands which is what I mainly wear them for! They range from $35-$50 but I got mine on sale for about $20!

#5. Lilly Pulitzer - Luxletic Weekender Leggings

Lilly Pulitzer leggings may be the most expensive pair of leggings I have in my collection. Granted, I do buy them during the After Party Sale, but they still run about $55 during the sale. They normally retail for about $108. I love these because they are so soft and you can't help but smile when you see the bright colorful print. I will say, the material of these is more of a soft cotton material rather than your traditional athletic material. I normally would wear these to yoga or running errands rather than do a workout where I'll sweat a lot at.

Ellie Activewear Maroon Set - 6 SQUAT PROOF Leggings to check out

#6. Ellie Activewear - Bally & Balance Collection

Ellie Activewear is still a relatively new brand to me and so far I've been loving their workout sets, especially their leggings! If you're unfamiliar with Ellie Activewear, Ellie is a monthly subscription service where you receive three workout pieces which usually include a sports bra, top, and leggings for $44.95. Ellie doesn't provide one set brand of workout clothes, but a mix of different brands which is fun to try out different brands every month.

My favorite legging brands from past months have been Bally and Balance Collection. The leggings are so soft, high waisted, and of course, not see-through. I typically only wear these leggings during yoga classes though since they usually are printed or colored as they tend to show sweat, but other than that these leggings are great!

Now, to throw it back to you! Where do you like to shop for your leggings? Let me know down below, I'd love to check them out! I hope you all found this helpful and as always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,
Amy

Femme Luxe Clothing Review

Femme Luxe, an online store that claims to have on-trend, influencer inspired fashion. Curious to know more about the brand? Read more down below!

*Disclaimer: This post is in partnership with Femme Luxe and as always, all opinions are my own. Thank you so much for supporting brands that support The Daily Amy!

Hi friends!

If you're like me then you do quite a bit of your shopping online. I mean, gone are the days of driving to the mall, fighting to find a spot only to fight the Saturday crowd to hopefully find something at the selected about amount of stores there. Online shopping has changed the game with many retailers only operating online now. I mean, you can pretty much shop for anything for any occasion with a single click.

With that being said, it can be a little tricky trying out a new online retailer. One thing traditional brick and mortar retail stores have over online stores is the fact that you're able to go in, feel the material, and try on the items. I know at least for me I've always come across the struggle of trying to figure out what size to order online, what the quality will be like, and if I'm actually going to get what's pictured.

Today I want to kick off a little series on my blog where I review online retailers giving you all my honest thoughts on the quality, sizing, etc. Hopefully, this will give you all a better idea if the particular retailer is worth checking out.

WHAT IS FEMME LUXE?

In today's post, I had the chance to check out a new to me retailer, Femme Luxe. Femme Luxe describes themselves as a bold and "Influencer inspired fashion brand." The company had started two years ago featuring pieces such as bodycon dresses, jumpsuits, and bodysuits. There are over 100 pieces on the website every week and continuously offer discounts and promos for their pieces. Femme Luxe is a London based brand but ships worldwide. As far as a return policy, they do allow you to return items within 14 days of receiving your package.

CLOTHING REVIEW

Outfit Details: "Nothing to Wear" T-shirt c/o || Cardigan || Jeans || Belt

ITEM: White Nothing to Wear Slogan Short-Sleeve Cropped Top
SIZE: S/M

This graphic tee was labeled as a cropped top, but it's the length of your traditional t-shirt. In the photo, the model had the t-shirt tied into a knot to make it look like a cropped t-shirt so maybe it is meant to be styled tied up to look like a crop top? Besides that, this is my favorite piece from Femme Luxe. The material is super soft and slinky. As for sizing, I got an S/M and even though it fits, I'd much rather have gotten the M/L for a looser fit.

Outfit Details: Black Blazer Dress c/o || Pink Top || Black Jeans

ITEM: Black Blazer Double Breasted Mini Dress
SIZE: UK 10

This item is labeled as a mini dress and as you can tell by the photo, this dress would not work as a dress at all. I got my usual size and looking it as a blazer, it fits well. From a blazer standpoint, this piece is nice and lightweight which would make it a great transition piece to throw on in the early spring months. The model on the website wore this buttoned up as a mini dress which was what I was hoping for. If this had been labeled as just a blazer, I wouldn't be disappointed.

Outfit Details: Oversized Belted Shirt Dress c/o || Jeans || Booties || Similar Purse

ITEM: Pink Oversized Belted Shirt Mini Dress
SIZE: S/M

This is another piece that was labeled as a dress but as you can see, it is way too short to be considered one on me (I'm sensing a theme). Again, if this was labeled as just a top, I wouldn't be disappointed, but the fact that it was marketed as a dress I'm a little bummed. I will also note that this material creases easily, so you'll have to make sure it's steamed or ironed before you wear it out. Other than that, I do like how it's styled here, and the material isn't see-through with a nude-bra.

Outfit Details: Glitter Crop Top c/o || Similar Leather Jacket || Black Jeans

ITEM: Silver Glitter Sparkly Short Sleeve Crop Top
SIZE: UK 10

First off, this is the first item I received that actually matches the description and looks like the photo. With that said, this is my least favorite item that I had received only because it doesn't suit my body type and I felt extremely self-conscious in it the whole time. That aside and looking at just the top, the top is pretty ok quality. Compared to the other three items, I'd say this one is the best quality, matches the product description, true to size, and matches the photo. It's unfortunate that it doesn't suit me.

OVERALL REVIEW:

SIZING
As far as sizing goes, I'd say the sizing is pretty true to size. I ordered everything in an S/M or UK 10 which is equivalent to a US 4/6. If you disregard the "dresses" and look them as tops, then I'd say everything I had received fits true to size.

QUALITY
As for quality, I'd say you're getting what you paid for. The material for these pieces is similar to Forever 21, H&M, SheIn, or any fast-fashion place. I wouldn't expect these to hold up for more than a few washes.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
My overall thoughts with Femme Luxe that it's pretty hit or miss. The model photos are pretty misleading and it can be hard to picture what the item will look like when you receive it. The company primarily carries a lot of clubby / going outwear which is something I don't tend to shop for since I graduated from college. I will say the prices are very affordable, but you definitely get what you paid for. Femme Luxe is probably not somewhere I would shop at regularly, but may consider if I'm in the need of going out clothes for a special occasion.

Now to throw it back to you! Have you heard of Femme Luxe before? If so, let me know your thoughts down below! Also, let me know your thoughts on this retailer review series! I hope you all enjoyed the post and as always. thank you for reading!

xoxo,
Amy

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale 2020

HAPPY AFTER PARTY SALE! The winter Lilly Pulitzer After Party sale for 2020 has kicked off and there are so many goodies, you don't want to miss this!

Lilly Pulitzer After Party sale 2020

Hi friends and happy After Party Sale!

If you're in the dark of what the After Party Sale is, it's a sale that Lilly Pulitzer holds twice a year which includes items from past seasons marked down up to 70% off. This is my FAVORITE sale of the year and really the only time I shop and stock up on some of my favorite Lilly pieces. If you'd like more information on the sale, check out this blog post where I break down everything you need to know!

Today I'm excited to share some of my favorite picks from the sale with you all. I was able to pop into the store on Saturday to pick up a few pieces already, but many of the pieces were already pick through so I'm excited to shop the sale online as well. Lilly does three drops during the sale, so I'll be sure to update this with my picks over the next two days!

Pieces I've already purchased:
  • Ellee Midi Dress in Zanizbar Zoo - I've been a sucker for midi dresses lately and I was immediately drawn to this one when I saw it in-store. The midi length is so fun and the dress even has pockets which we all know makes it 10x better. The only con with this piece is that the straps are a little too long for me, but nothing a little thread and needle can't fix. I'm excited to pair this with some heels in the summer for an upcoming wedding I'm going to!
  • Sophie Dress in Party in Paradise - These t-shirt material type dresses are my favorite dresses to wear to work during the spring and summertime. They're so easy to throw on and they're super comfy as well!

Are you shopping the After Party Sale? If so, let me know down below what you scored! I hope you all have a wonderful day and as always, thank you for reading!

Amy

Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale - Everything You Need to Know

Mark your calendars ladies and gents, the winter Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale is here!

Everything you need to know about the Lilly Pulitzer after party sale

Poppin in on a rare Saturday post to give you all the information on the most colorful sale of the year, the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale! This sale is one of my favorite sales of the year and I always have so much fun covering it for you all. Whether you're a veteran or a newbie to the sale, I've put together this comprehensive guide to the sale to help all of my fellow Lilly lovers get the most out of this sale!

Post: Finding Work-Life Balance

About the After Party Sale:

What is the After Party Sale?
The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale is a bi-annual sale that includes past season's pieces at a discounted price. The reason why the After Party Sale is so popular is that Lilly doesn't hold sales in their retail stores throughout the year. You can expect to find pieces up to 60% off in this sale and it's a great time to stock up on some of your favorite styles!

Ok, awesome! When can I shop for the After Party Sale?
The After Party Sales starts in stores at 9:00am on January 4 - 5th  and launches online at 8:00am January 6th until January 7th at 11:59pm. Mark your calendars!

Got it! Now, what will be included in the sale?
You can expect to find styles and prints from past seasons in the sale. A few of the classic styles that I've seen in almost every sale for the past few years have been their Popovers, Callahan Shorts, Mila Shifts, Donna Rompers, and Kelly Pants. It is important to take note that the items you currently see on the Lilly Pulitzer website will not be included in the After Party Sale.

Also, be sure to check back on the site throughout the day! Lilly does about three drops during the sale meaning they add new pieces throughout the sale and sometimes they include some holy grail classic prints!

So, how exactly does the After Party Sale work?
Lilly Pulitzer recently started to do the instore preview of the sale a few years ago, as for shopping online it's a little different than your traditional sales. Once you go onto the Lilly Pulitzer website Monday morning around 8:00am (ish, sometimes they're off by a few minutes, but it's worth it!!) you'll be placed in a virtual line. Once you're in the line they'll give you an estimated time of when you'll be able to access the sale. Once you're in line, do not refresh your page as you will be placed in the back of the line.

Also, keep in mind, it's not worth it to have multiple tabs on your laptop open to hold different spots in line. The line system goes by your IP address and it'll just be showing you the same spot in line if you do so. If you'd like to hold different spots in line, I'd advise you to log in on various devices such as your laptop, tablet, phone, significant other's phone... etc.

Lilly Pulitzer After party sale FAQ
Post: Wearing Lilly in the Fall

Additional Tips and Tricks:

Now that you know the main basis of the After Party Sale and why it's one of the BEST sales of the year, here are some helpful tips/things to keep in mind:

1. Update your account. I suggest you go on Lilly Pulitzer RIGHT NOW to either create an account or check to make sure your information is up to date. Items move fast during the sale and by already having your account up to date with your shipping and payment information you're able to quickly check out as soon as your items are in your cart. Note that the site does shut down for maintenance about either the night before or a few hours before the sale so I suggest heading over to the site as soon as you can before Monday.

2. Shipping is free! Yep, you heard that. Shipping for the After Party Sale is free! You can make multiple orders during the sale, but keep in mind as soon as you check out you will be placed back into the virtual line if there's still one going on at the time. Also note, that just because an item is in your basket it is not on hold for you. There have been multiple occasions where I had items in my cart be sold out by the time I go check out. If there's a piece you've been eyeing for a while I suggest you snag it quickly but keep in mind that all of the pieces in the After Party Sale are final sale.

3. Know your sizes. Lilly Pulitzer's sizing can be pretty tricky and for me personally, I find them to be a little inconsistent. I suggest if you do have time to pop into the store before the sale to try on styles you're eyeing to get an idea of what size to buy once the sale goes live on Monday. If you don't live near a Lilly Pulitzer store check out these two sizing guides I've put together in the past:
Lilly Pulitzer Sizing Guide
Lilly Pulitzer Sizing Guide 2.0

4. Don't limit yourself to just the corporate store. The After Party Sale isn't just available at the Lilly Pulitzer corporate locations. You can check out Lilly Pulitzer's signature stores and Belk for the sale as well! Often times these locations will be less crowded and they'll have just about the same prices. If you're shopping the sale on a budget, be sure to check out this blog post on my tips on tricks!

5. Be patient and have fun! Whether you're headed in stores or shopping the sale from the comfort of your own home, but sure to be patient. There are also a ton of other Lilly lovers excited about the sale as well and the dressing room lines will be long and the virtual line can be up to an hour. Be patient and there is enough Lilly to go around! As great as the sale is, it's just that, a sale. So be patient, have fun and enjoy scoring some great deals with your fellow Lilly lovers!

Goals for 2020

Similar Top || Jacket || Jeans || Ring || Earrings || Shoes

Happy New Year's Everyone!

It feels a little surreal that it's already a new year. I mean, it still hasn't hit me that a new decade is here and the holiday season is over. I guess it'll catch up to me eventually! With the start of the new year, naturally, I begin to reflect on the past year and think about the goals I want to accomplish. I do new years resolutions/goals post every year on the blog and it's a great way to not only keep me accountable by having it out there online but a great way for you all to get some ideas on what you want to accomplish in this upcoming year.

1. Practice better self-care
I had briefly touched in the last post that last year wasn't the best for me mentally (or physically). Fitness had become something placed on a back burner, my diet wasn't where I wanted to be, I had started to get frequent anxiety attacks and continuously found myself in a "meh" slump more often than not. With that being said I want to make self-care a priority this year whether that means saying "no" to more social outings so I can rest or getting back into a gym routine I can stick to.

2. Be more consistent with the blog
I believe I had made this a goal last year and it kinda flopped at the beginning of the year... BUT, I want to stick with a consistent posting schedule here on The Daily Amy. I've gotten pretty good at my two a week postings and starting to work on varying my content on my Instagram page. I also want to get better at planning out and executing my blog posts a few days in advance instead of staying up the night before typing away. Time management is definitely something I need to get better at this upcoming year as well.

3. Take more pictures!
This one may sound silly, but as I look back on the past year I realized I barely took any photos that weren't for the blog. At the same time, I'm glad I'm enjoying being more in the moment, but also it's great to have something to look back on.

4. Cook more
I started to get back into cooking again near the second half of 2019 and I really want to continue it. I realized as I look back on the majority of my money has gone to eating out at restaurants. Not only will cooking more at home save me a lot of money, it'll help me stay on track on eating healthier.

5. Meet new people / make friends!
Ok, again I know this may sound silly but hear me out. Ever since I made the move back out to Charlotte I've been stuck in a little rut of going to work, going home and then hanging out with my boyfriend. Many of the friends I had out in Charlotte when I went to school here have moved out of the city. Last year I really struggled with putting myself out there to meet new people and make connections and I really want to get better at that this year.

And that's it! Of course, I have a few other personal goals written down to work towards this year, but those are the main ones I want to focus on this upcoming year. I'm so excited to see what this year holds and to have you all follow along!

What are your goals for this year? Let me know down below! I hope you all have a wonderful day and as always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,
Amy
