I've officially been out of college for 3 1/2 weeks now (HOW?!). Although I've learned a lot during my college career in and outside of the classroom, there are a handful of things I wish I knew before I started college. Today I'm sharing 10 things I wish I knew before college and hopefully will help those of you going into college / in college!
Today I'll be a college graduate from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Marketing.
Wow, that's going to get some getting used to.

Happy Monday friends!
Graduation season is upon us! If you followed me on Instagram then you may have seen on my Insta Stories that I was having THE hardest time finding a graduation dress. All of the dresses I tried on during my hunt either looked weird on, didn't go with my robe or were off the shoulder (which, we all know how I feel about OTS). In the end, I settled on an old Lilly dress that I had bought a couple years ago during the After Party Sale and have yet to wear.
Happy Monday friends!
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! I meet up with a few bloggers this past weekend for a blogger event on Saturday, but I'll share more on that later this week!
Back to school season is unfortunately among us. I cannot believe that this is my final year of college and the one week mark until I go back to school. I mean, WHERE DID THOSE LAST THREE YEARS GO?! In honor of this being my final year of college and back to school season I wanted to share what it's in my school bag along with some of my essentials.
Also, be sure to stick around to the end of the post for an exciting giveaway!!
On most days I use my Victoria's Secret Pink backpack for class, but occasionally I will use my reversible tote. This tote fits SO much and makes me feel a little dressier than carrying around a backpack. As for features of the tote, it's basically a giant open bag with a magnetic closure and comes with a small removable pouch.
Laptop Skin (c/o) || Cell Phone Case (c/o) Use "PASTELNPINK20" for 20% off
Laptop
90% of the time I take my notes on my laptop and then go back home after class to rewrite my notes. It seems like everyone and their mother now has a macbook (which I see why because they're AMAZING), but it can be a little redundant seeing a sea of silver screens in your classroom. I wanted to give mine a face lift and decided to get a beautiful marble skin to make my laptop stand out a little. Custom laptop skins are the perfect way to make your laptop stand out from everyone else's!
Cell Phone
Having a cell phone in my bag is a pretty much given. I currently have this super cute case I was able to customize from CaseApp on it! If you're looking for a case that's already been designed, I love this print!
CaseApp was kind enough to give my readers a 20% off coupon ("PASTELNPINK20") to customize your own laptop skin or cell phone case so your tech items can go back to school in style!
Agenda
I cannot live without my agenda! No joke, I went a couple days on a "no planner" break and I never felt so lost in my life. I have been using the Lilly Pulitzer agenda for the past three years for school and love it! Agendas are great to keep you on track in school and keep you organized. Be sure to keep on the look out for a post on how I organize my agenda for class!
Notebook
On the rare occasion where I cannot use my laptop in class to type notes or if my laptop decides to die on me, I do like to have a notebook on hand to take notes. My favorite notebooks to use are the Five Star college rule notebook . Seriously, the best for making your handwriting and notes look pretty (very important) and they always come in so many fun prints and colors!
Calculator
I'm pretty much done with all of my math classes in my college career (I'm a business major btw!) but I still like to carry a calculator around just for that rare occasion I may need it. I also decided to give my calculator a little face lift by hand painting a fun Lilly patter on it. Can you tell that I love decorating my school supplies?
Clicker
I'm not sure if all Universities use this, but some of my classes require me to use a clicker in class. This is used for attendance, answering in class questions or pop quizzes.

Pencil Case (Old, THIS one is super cute!) || Highlighters || Pens (similar)
Pencil Case
This is my favorite pencil case to use! It has 3 different compartments where I can seperate my highlighters, pens/pencils and my eraser, whiteout and sticky notes. Unfortunately I bought it a few years ago, but this one is super cute!
Writing Utensils
Again, pretty much a given. Pens, pencils and highlighters galor! I love color coding so I pretty much have every color of the rainbow in my pencil pouch.
Wallet
Wallets with attachable straps and small wristlits are my favorite ways to carry around my money and cards in my backpack. This wallet is my favorite to carry around for school because it comes with an attachable strap that I can wear as a purse if I decide to go out to eat with friends after class. It's also big enough to fit my million and one cards in it!
Chargers
The worst thing that can happen is that you're almost done with your term paper and then your laptop decides to die on you... Be prepared and pack your charger with you! I also carry my phone charger around with me because I'm super paranoid about being in a bad situation and having a dead phone...
Snacks
My class schedule always fall right in the middle of lunch for me so snacks are essential for me. Usually I'm carrying some type of granola bar, but I recently tried this blue berry granola from Quaker Oats and I'm low key hooked! It's super good in oatmeal too!
Other items not shown:
- Advil / Migraine medicine - getting a headache in class is the worst!
- Water bottle - have to stay hydrated
- Sweater - for those chilly classrooms
So that's what I carry in my bag! So, now on to the giveaway! I've teamed up with CaseApp on this post to give you all a chance to win your own custom laptop skin or phone case! The giveaway will end one week from today. Good luck!!

What do are some of your school bag essentials? I'd love to know! I hope you all have a wonderful week and come back Wednesday for a new post!

Hello, everyone! With the year starting to wind down and my 5th semester in college coming to an end I thought it would be fun to share with you all 5 things I learned during my time here. You learn so much in college in and out of the classroom. They said college is about finding yourself and learning new things and boy were they right. So without further ado, here are 5 things I learned from college (outside of the classroom).
1. No one cares about what you wear
You could go to class rockin' last night's PJs or in pumps and a dress and no one would really care. At the end of the day, we are all here to learn and you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in!2. It's ok to ask for help
I have come to learn that seeking help does not mean you’re dumb, it means you are smart enough to seek someone to help you solve your problem. We are all here to learn and no one is going to judge you by asking a question on how to clarify something.
3. No one likes doing dishes
Does anyone really like doing dishes in the first place? What I have noticed is that no one likes to do dishes. Dishes always tend to pile up in our sink for days on end and it always ends up someone having to do the whole load not because they dirtied them, but because they need to use them. Maybe part if it is because I am a little bit of a clean freak, but isn't it just common sense to wash right after you use them?4. People change, and that's ok.
My dad always told me that people go through 18 different changes throughout their life and that's perfectly ok. We all grow up, our taste and interest change and that’s perfectly normal. Some people may turn from being introverts to a social butterfly and vice versa. College is about finding yourself and sometimes that means going through changes. As long as the change isn’t for the worse, I say embrace it!5. Making plans with people is harder than you think.
With a full schedule of classes, work, clubs, and everything everyone has going on, making plans for lunch with a friend seem like something you have to schedule a month in advance. There would be times where I won't see my roommates for 3 days at a time because our schedules are so busy. When you do catch that window of opportunity to meet up with a friend be sure to take full advantage of it!I hope some of you will be able to relate to me on what I have learned during my two and half years here at college. Let me know what you have learned since you started college down below!
P.S. Today is my last day of finals!! I am ready for 4:30 pm to get here!!
A few months ago I had posted a blog post consisting of some blooper photos that were taken that didn't quite make it to the blog. Today I am here to share more blooper photos with you all, but in a way of how we feel about finals week. So, grab yourself a snack and consider this your study break! You're welcome.
"It's ok, I got this. Bring it on finals week."
*Looks at to-do list and realize you have 4 exams, 2 presentations and a paper due in 48 hours*
"....ooo maybe I don't got this."

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you all have been enjoying this mini back to school series! Today I am going to share my top five clothing essentials you need for college!
1. Workout clothes
Okay, let’s face it there are some days where you just don't want to dress up for class. Maybe it's that time of the month, or you're running late, or you are just too tired to put together a presentable outfit because you pulled an all nighter, it happens. Throwing on a pair of norts and a t-shirt is probably going to be your go to outfit on those "I don't feel like trying" days. It's also great for when you want to, you know actually workout.
2. A set of business appropriate outfit
This can be a combination of a nice white button down shirt, black blazer, pencil skirt, black slacks, nice dress, etc. Just have one whole professional looking outfit from top to bottom. You never know when you need to look nice for a presentation or go to an interview so it’s nice to have at least one nice outfit in the back of your closet. I picked up a cute pant suit from H&M and it's came in handy so many times!
3. Little black dress
I feel like this is so basic and so over said but there is a reason why everyone tells you that you need to have at least one little black dress in your closet! You can wear your little black dress with a colored blazer for a presentation, or pair it with some heels for a night out! LBDs are so versatile and are a perfect day to night transition piece (because who has time to pick out a separate day outfit for school and another outfit to go out at night?)!
4. Winter Gear
I’m talking about hats, scarfs, gloves, a thick jacket, and thick scarfs. Guys, walking half a mile to a mile to class in 2-degree weather is not fun. My first year of college I made the mistake of not packing any of my winter gear with me and froze my booty off everyday during the winter months. Be prepared and make sure you bring some winter gear to prevent getting frost bite on your walk to class. Plus, if you live in North Carolina like I do than it's nice to have these already on hand because the weather here changes with a flick of a wrist.
5. Comfy shoes
Be sure to bring comfy shoes! When you are walking all around campus the last thing you want is to have on shoes that hurt your feet. In high school I got away with wearing cute wedges pretty much every other day but there’s no way I could do that in college. My campus is filled with hills and stairs so comfy shoes are a must! My favorite shoes to wear are my Nike free runs, ballet flats and riding boots!
I hope this helped you guys out on what to pack for college! Have a great day everyone! (:

One of my the things I was looking forward to when heading off the college was decorating my dorm room! I couldn't tell you how long I spent on Pinterest pinning dorm inspiration pictures, shopping for pieces and DIY-ing decor. Here I have put together my top five favorite places to get everything you need to make your dorm room Pinterest worthy!
1. Target
Let's face it, Target pretty much has everything. From bedding, to storage to even snacks for your dorm room Target is the place to go. They always have a back to school section that makes it easy for you to get everything you need for school. I love getting little decorative knick-knacks from Target, they add such a fun and quirky feel to your room!
2. Red Dress Boutique
Red Dress Boutique recently launched a home decor line and it is to die for! This is a really great place to pick up decorative pillows. From cute quotes to colorful patterns, they have plenty of pillows to make any dorm room bursting with color! They also have some really cute Lilly Pulitzer plates and cups if you want to eat your dinner in style!
3. TJ Maxx
TJ Maxx is a great place to pick up decorative pieces for your dorm room that won't break your wallet. They always have really cute decorative pillows and little knick knacks to put in your room. Also, I always get my colorful huggable hangers from there because they're so inexpensive! The hangers don't only help save space in your closet, but they also add a nice pop of color as well! Adding on to TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Home Goods are also great places to check out for inexpensive decor pieces!
4. Urban Outfitters
Urban Outfitters is a little on the pricier side, but they always have some really neat things in there. Urban is a great place to pick up a big tapestry to hang up on your wall to bring in a lot of color. Also, if you're willing to splurge on your bedding, I recommend checking theirs out because they always have so many cute ones to choose from!
5. Good Will
Lastly, Good Will. There are so many hidden treasures you can find a thrift shops and for cheap! I found lots of cute little decorative trays and figures from Good Will all for less than a dollar or two each! Also, you can find items from there such as trays and picture frames for a couple dollars that you can spice up with a little crafting and you will have something unique to decorate your room with. If you are a bit of a germaphobe like I am then just take a clorox wipe and wipe down the things you get before displaying them in your room!
I hope this helped with your hunt to find some pieces for your dorm room! Let me know what your favorite place to get room decor down below!
