Now that the NSALE is over it's time to focus on bigger and better things... the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale! If you have never shopped the sale before or want to pick up on some new tips to make your shopping experience even better, fear not I have compiled all of my tips and tricks with you all.
I'm popping in for a rare Sunday post to share with you all some of my tips and tricks for shopping the After Party Sale. I've been shopping the sale since my sophomore year of college (which is 3 years ago!!) and every year I always pick up some great pieces. I've shared many times that I have never bought Lilly full-priced (aside from their agendas) and I actually started to grow my Lilly collection from shopping the After Party Sale.
I might warn you, the sale can be a little hectic at times, but just pour yourself some coffee and grab your laptop because this is going to be the most colorful sale of the summer!
First things first, what is the After Party Sale?
The After Party Sale is a sale Lilly holds twice a year to sell some of their past season pieces for a discounted price. Many of the items in the sale are usually under $100. Many of the dresses I've scored from the sale are around $50 which is GREAT for Lilly pieces. If you go on the Lilly Pulitzer site you may notice that they don't have a sale section and it's because they save all their goodies for the After Party Sale. Typically the sale happens on a Monday in January and August.
When is the After Party Sale?
The sale this year starts tomorrow August 28th at 8am and for the first time ever lasts 3 days! That's right, from August 28 - 30th you have a chance to shop the Lilly sale in-store and online.
Also for the first time ever Lilly Pulitzer is holding a pre After Party Sale in stores only today starting at 3pm! This is great for you working gals who can't shop the sale during work.
How does the After Party Sale work?
The After Party Sale has changed over the years, and how the sale works now (online) is that you head over to the Lilly Pulitzer website and you're automatically put into a virtual line. From there you just wait until it's your turn in line and you can access the sale.
In the past years, I've always opened up the sale on multiple devices (laptop, desktop, phone, tablet, boyfriend's laptop...) and just hop on whichever one access the sale firsts. Be careful to not refresh your browser once you're in line because you'll be placed at the end of the line if you do so.
I also would advise not to open multiple tabs on your laptop as well because the line goes by IP addresses and you'll just be slowing yourself down by having all the unnecessary tabs open on the same device.
What will be in the sale?
Everything you currently see on the Lilly site will not be on sale. Typically things that go on sale are past season items. You can pretty much expect to see their classic pieces such as the Mila Shift, Marlowe Dress, Popovers, Callahan shorts and Kelly Pants to be included in the sale just in older prints.
What are your tips for shopping the sale?
1. Make an account on Lilly Pulitzer RIGHT NOW and stay logged in.
Items sell out fast during the sale and the last thing you want to do is have your favorite shift in your cart and go to check out and have it be sold out while you're typing in your mailing address. I also advise staying logged in right now because Lilly shuts down the site 8 hours before the sale to prep for it.
2. Know your sizes.
Everything in the APS is a final sale so be sure to know your sizes beforehand. I put together a Lilly Pulitzer size guide for you all so you can get a rough idea of what size you need in what styles before you order. I do have to say Lilly sizing can be inconsistent so be sure to read the reviews as well before you order!
3. Shop Lilly Pulitzer signature stores
Don't limit yourself to just shopping the sale on the Lilly Pulitzer official site. Many Lilly signature stores such as the Pink Pelican holds sales during the APS and there is no virtual line to get in.
4. Make a wish list / set a budget
I know I'm not the only one that tends to go a little too crazy when I hear the word "sale." I usually make a wish list of items (or in this case styles) that I'm on the hunt for. Also, since I'm in the process of saving money for a place of my own right now, I've set my self a budget to stick by to make sure I don't go too overboard.
5. Check back frequently
Last year Lilly added more sale pieces throughout the day and some of them included pieces in the "You Gotta Regatta" print! Also, don't be afraid to make multiple orders throughout the day, during the sale, there is free shipping! Be sure to follow them on their Instagram and Twitter accounts because they usually announce when they'll drop new pieces in the sale or sneak peeks!
And those are my tips! If you want to read more on the After Party Sale be sure to head over to Lilly's FAQ page to read more on it. I'm so excited for this year's sale and just like I've done in previous years I'll be sure to do a post of my favorites and tweet out any new pieces that come out to you all. The post will be a similar setup like last year where you can just click on the piece you want and shop it right then and there!
Are you shopping for the sale tomorrow? If so let me know what you're hoping to score! I hope you all have a great day!

Growing up in a small town there was a lot that I took for granted. It wasn't until I moved out to Charlotte for college till I really realized how great small-town life can be. I guess you really don't know a good thing till it's gone, am I right? Even though I don't have any plans to move back anytime soon, I now have a newfound appreciation for my small town!

A Lilly state of mind is the best state of mind, am I right? Today I'm sharing the newest edition to my Lilly collection that I managed to score for a great price!
Going out this weekend? Check out my recommendations on where you should hit up on your night out!
Happy Friday friends!
In continuation of my mini Charlotte Travel guide series, I’m sharing some of my favorite Charlotte night time spots with you all! Most of these places I have visited during various friend’s 21st birthdays and am always up for trying new bars. I hope you all enjoy my round up and let me know what your favorites are!
Uptown
Kandy Bar
Kandy Bar is located in the Epicenter and known for their dessert drinks. I went here the very first time I’ve gone out to the Epicenter and it was so fun! The place is a lot more lux than your typical bar/club. I do have to advise that I do think this is more of a Saturday night spot if you do plan on going out there.
Whisky River
Whisky River is a personal favorite of mine! I’ve been there a few times and on my birthday and I’ve always had a fun time there! This is owned by Dale Earn Heart Jr. and always has good music. They even have a mechanical bull if that’s your thing!
Rocksburry
If you’re into 80’s and 90’s music than Rocksburry is the place for you! Personally, I cannot get into music that I don’t know and I don’t know most of the songs played in Rocksburry so it’s not exactly my top choice to go out to.
City Lights Rooftop
I’m sure you all have heard of me talk about City Lights multiple times here on the blog, but for good reasoning! City Lights Rooftop is home to the very Instagram worthy champagne pops and has the prettiest view of Uptown. I do have to warn that it is a little pricy ($14 for the champagne pop!), but I do think it is made up of the incredible scenery.
Noda
The Blind Pig
I went to the Blind Pig for a friend’s 21st birthday last year. It’s super chill and relaxed if dancing is not your thing. The place is stocked with fun games such as Jenga and ski ball to keep you entertained. The bar also has a texting board where you can send in text messages to have it displayed on the wall… be careful with this one though! Overall a good chill place to go to if you’re not wanting to go out and dance.
The Dog Bar
If you love dogs then you have to visit the dog bar in NoDa! Owners bring their dogs, grab a drink, and mingle around with other dog lovers. You don’t have to bring a dog to come to the bar, you can just come and play with everyone else’s (at least that’s what I do!). This place is super relaxed and I’d recommend not wearing your most expensive heels or dress here because as you may have guessed, it could potentially get ruined from the dogs.
Plaza Midwood
Thomas St. Tavern
We went to Thomas St. Tavern for RJ’s 21st birthday and the time we were there it was so fun! The place has a nice big outdoor area and ping pong tables. This is a great little hangout spot if you don’t want to deal with going to Uptown for the night.
Peculiar Rabbit
If you saw on my latest Pink Talk’s post then you may have seen me mention that we also stopped here for RJ’s birthday. Peculiar Rabbit has 3 different floors that include a nice outdoor area with a city view and an arcade area. We actually didn’t get to stay here too long during RJ’s birthday, but the time we did spend there was enjoyable!
University
Angry Ale’s
Ale’s is the go to college nightspot on Thursday nights. On Thursday there are $8 trash can specials and it’s always packed with college students. Ales has a nice outdoor patio and is dog friendly! I do have to warn you, other than Thursday nights Ales is pretty dead.
Flying Saucer
Monday nights at Saucer is the place to be! My friends and I like to meet up at Saucer on Mondays for $3.50 pint nights and it’s such a cool atmosphere to be in. This bar, like the name states, is filled with saucers of individuals who have tried all 200 beers. This is a great place to come, kick back with friends, and watch a sports game.
Music Factory
Label
Ok, lots of people have varying opinions on Label. Personally, I really enjoy going there, but I do have to admit that it does get VERY crowded. Label is located in the Music Factory and has 1 main dance floor and an upstairs that overlooks the area as well as an outdoor area. I use to go a lot during their college nights on Thursdays and they usually play pretty good dancing music. But, again it gets VERY crowded so if you don’t like crowds or people this may not be the place for you.
I’ve gone to their international night on Saturday once before and it wasn’t as crowded if you want to check that out. I do have to warn that they do play lots of Spanish music on international night, but I personally don’t mind that.
And those are my nightlife suggestions! I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest nightlife person, but I do enjoy going out once and awhile. If you’re in the Charlotte area let me know where your favorite places to go are in the comments down below! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week!

If you’re like me then your Instagram feed has been full of happy sunflower photos lately. I’m not exactly sure why sunflowers have been so popular this year, but fields seem to pop up everywhere! I’m not hating at all, these flowers are so bright and they can make anyone feel instantly happier.
Happy Friday friends!
I’m sure many of you have heard about me talk about Uptown Cheapskate a lot here on the blog, and I promise it’s for a good reason! Being a recent graduate my financial situation isn’t the best that it could be. I’ve been putting myself on a tighter budget and trying to save as much money as I can when I can… this meaning cutting back on my frequent shopping trips. To compromise my shopping habits I’ve been really enjoying thrift store shopping! It saves me a ton of money I would have spent at normal stores and I am still able to get my shopping fix.
One cool thing about Uptown Cheapskate is that you have the option to sell your clothes for store credit. So technically if you use your store credit you’re not spending any money, right? This is also a great way to make sure you don’t over clutter your wardrobe with a ton of new pieces.
As some of you have already seen if you follow me on Instagram, I was given the opportunity to take you all along with me to share how far $100 can go to a secondhand shop. We all work really hard for our money and we want it to go far, am I right? Today I’m sharing exactly what I bought, my thought process, and my experience with my little shopping spree! So let’s get started now, shall we?
NEW WITH TAGS Forever 21 blouse
Finding items that still have their original tags on them is always so exciting when you go thrifting. I managed to find this darling sheer chiffon beaded top original from Forever 21 for ($12). It’s such a cute piece that you can easily take it from lunch with your gal pals, to workwear ready for a night out on the town.
Floral J.Crew Skirt
I ADORE this skirt! This floral print is so pretty and the best part is that it has pockets!! I had mentioned on my Instagram story that this skirt was actually a size too big for me, but I just couldn’t pass it up. I guess I’ll have to either find a way to get it taken in or eat some more cookies, am I right??
Royal blue shirt dresses
If you’ve been a follower of my blog for a while now then you know I have a thing for blue dresses. When I first saw this on the rack I knew I just had to try it on. This shape of this dress is so classic and I love how you can dress it up with some heels and statement earrings or down with a pair of white oxfords.
Pink and White striped bow top
I’m a sucker for anything pink and white and the bow on this top just sealed the deal for me. I envision this top paired with some light wash skinny jeans, nude flats, and possibly some fun earrings?? So cute and you will definitely see a full outfit post on this top soon!
H&M Black skater skirt
As some of you already know, I do have a part-time job where I am required black and white. I actually don’t own a whole lot of solid black and white pieces and I had to go out and find new workwear pieces after my first day on the job!
Fun fact, I actually stopped by UC to pick up 2 black dresses for work and I got them for $5 each! Who says you have to spend a ton on workwear? I picked up this basic skater skirt for $8 and love how I can wear it for work or for everyday wear as well which is always a plus for me when I'm clothed shopping.
Madewell Navy Lace Crop Top
I have always popped into Madewell and loved their clothing pieces, but I could never afford any of them with my current budget. I was so happy to come across this darling piece at UC and knew I had to take it home with me. How cute would this be paired with some white jeans?? So cute and in excellent condition as well!
Lilly Pulitzer Shift Dress
And now, last but not least, I managed to find this darling Lilly Pulitzer shift dress!! It’s always such a treat finding Lilly in thrift stores, and I even got lucky to find a brand new pair with tags attached one time! Even though this dress wasn’t NWT, it still was in excellent condition, and at $47 I knew I couldn’t pass that up.
Uptown Cheapskate always has a great selection of Lilly Pulitzer pieces and I have actually gotten quite a few pieces from my collection from there (like this vintage Lilly skirt!). During my shopping trip, I did manage to find an Elsa top for $14 but unfortunately, it did not come home with me.
OK, ladies and gents. If you kept up then you may have counted that I managed to purchase 7 items which include a new with tag Forever 21 top, J.Crew skirt, AND a Lilly dress for $100! This just shows how far your money goes in a secondhand shop. If you’re interested in scoring some great deals, you can check out this page to see if there’s a local Uptown Cheapskate near you! If you do go thrifting, even if it’s not at UC, please let me know what you’ve scored in the comments down below! If you’re still on the edge about thrifting, check out my top 5 reasons why you should go thrifting and if you want to thrift like a pro, be sure to check out my thrift store shopping post!
I hope you all have a wonderful day and as always, thank you for reading!

Size 4
I had actually thrifted this dress from Uptown Cheapskate. I'm pretty sure the person who owns this dress before me altered the dress because there are some stitches near the shoulder area and it does fit a little tight on my shoulders. Would say fits true to size.
Jackie Shift Dress - Size S
I actually wore this shift dress for my college graduation! I loved the print of it and the silk material was nice and airy to wear under my graduation gown. I do wish that I got this dress in an x-small because it was a little big on me and the hemline is a couple inches too long on me. I feel like I can get away with wearing heels with this dress and it looks fine, but when I pair it with flats it looks like an awkward length on me. I would say to size down on this dress.
Never would I have thought to be in love with skorts past middle school, but here I am rocking a Lilly Skort! I scored this Lenore Skort a couple After Party Sales ago and it has to be one of my favorite purchases. I love the length on this skort and it's the only Lilly piece I have that's not printed, which I kinda love. I got this skort in a 2 and I feel like it fits looser than my Callahan shorts but I feel like sizing down a size would be too small for me. I would say this fits pretty true to size.
Kelly Pant - Size 6
I had thrifted these Kelly Pants brand new and despite them being a size too big for me, I bought them anyway. Before I had washed these pants they were a bit loose on me, but after throwing them into the wash they fit perfectly on me! I wonder if it's best to size up on these pants since they did fit a little snugger after a wash because I feel like if I had gone with a 4 they would be too tight for me after a wash. I'd say to size up on these pants!
Full outfit post on these Kelly Pants here.
Marigold Skort - Size 2
I adore this skort! Yes, it's actually skort! I love how it looks like an actual skirt but you have the comfort of it having shorts underneath. I went with the same size in Callahan shorts with these and they fit great!
Size 2
I had thrifted this skort as well and managed to find it in my size! Like almost all of Lilly's bottoms, I purchased this in a size 2. I do have to say this does fit a little snugger than the Lenor Skort, but not in a big way where I would need to size up.
Full outfit post featuring this skort here.
Whew! And that's it. I hope this helped you all a little bit when determining what size to get in your favorite Lilly pieces! I know posts like this always help me out when I'm online shopping and hope it does the same for some of you! Let me know if you're excited about the After Party Sale and let me know what you're hoping to score in the comments down below! Have a great week!
