7 Reasons Why Charlotte Is the Place to Be

I may be a little bias, but I do believe that Charlotte, North Carolina is quite possibly the best city. After being born in Philadelphia, PA, growing up in the small-town USA and living in the ultimate tourist hot spot, Orlando, Flordia on top of traveling across the United States, nowhere else is quite like the Queen City.

Blue Lace Dress

Back again showcasing another Amazon Prime find, but this one is worth every penny! The quality is great and comes in several fun colors that would be perfect for the upcoming holiday season, weddings, date night, or any special occasion to get dressed up for. Continue reading for my full review of the piece!

Hi friends!

Today I'm sharing another Amazon Wedding Guest Dress find with you all! You all really enjoyed the last Amazon Wedding Guest Dress find I had shared a few weeks back and I'm excited to share another winner with you all. I had mentioned a few times in previous posts and on social media that I have quite a few weddings coming up so finding pieces to wear to them has been both exciting and challenging. Like most people, I tend to want to buy a new piece for every event I go to, but at the same time, ya girl is still ballin' on a budget.

I had come across this dress when I decided last minute that I didn't want to go through the effort of getting the original dress that I had ordered for a wedding altered. The original dress I had ordered for a wedding I was going to was a beautiful green midi dress, and I wanted to find another midi dress to replace it but didn't want to go through the risk of having to get that one hemmed if it wasn't the right length. This dress was one of the first dresses that had popped up in my Amazon search for "Wedding Guest Dresses" and ordered it on a whim since I was running out of time to shop around, and I'm so glad I did!

I will have to say when I was ordering this piece I was skeptical about the quality of the lace. Lace can either be done really well and feel high quality or done very poorly and look a little tacky. Surprisingly, I feel that the quality of this lace falls closer to the high-quality range, and for $38 price tag that isn't too bad. I will say though, if you are ordering this it does show up a little darker online than it does in person.

Some quick notes about this piece:
  • It runs true to size - I ordered a medium
  • It comes in seven colors including a beautiful red color that would be fun for the holidays
  • It's not see-through - at least the blue color that I got
  • It's on Amazon Prime - perfect for those last-minute event shoppers

Do you have any upcoming weddings you're shopping for? If so, let me know down below! Also, let me know where your favorite places to shop for wedding guest dresses are! Clearly, I've been loving Amazon Prime lately for the convenience and the affordable price, but I'd love to hear where you're favorite places to shop are too! I hope you all enjoyed this post and as always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,
Amy

DIY Halloween Costume: Champagne and Rosé Bottles

I mean, you are what you drink, right?

DIY Champagne and Rose Bottle Costume

Pop. Fizz. Clink!

Guess who's back with another duo Halloween Costume idea?? You all loved the costume idea I shared last year with Cara of Caralina Style (despite the embarrassing typo...) and wanted to share another easy costume idea with you all again this year. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays solely because I love making the costumes! It's always fun to get creative and brainstorm costume ideas.

When brainstorming costume ideas for this year I got inspiration from some of our favorite drinks... Champagne and Rosé! This costume is super easy to make and you can go solo with it if you'd like.

Materials for the costume:
  • T-Shirt Dress (Rose or Green depending which one you'd like to make)
  • Headband
  • Cardboard
  • 2 Pieces of Gold Glitter Felt
  • 1 piece of white felt
  • 1 piece of black felt
  • Black sticker letters
  • Glue Gun + Glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Pen

How to make the headband:
1. Sketch and cut out a long trapezoid shape out of cardboard
2. Cover the cardboard trapezoid with gold glitter felt and glue it down
3. Take the headband and trace a curved shape at the short end of the trapezoid. Cut it out.
4. Heavily glue the trapezoid to the headband

How to make the top bottle design:
1. Take the black felt and fold it into thirds, lengthwise. Cut the three strips.
2. Make a "V" shape with the black strips and glue them together
3. Cut strips of gold felt and outline the black "V"
4. Cut a circle out of the gold felt and glue it in the middle

How to make the sign:
1. Fold the white felt in half, twice.
2. Take the letter "P" and place it in the center. Spell out the word "Champagne" on top and "Brut" at the bottom. If you want to make the rosé bottle, spell "Rosé" at the bottom of "Brute"
3. Outline the white felt in strips of gold felt. Glue everything together.

And there you have it! It took me about an hour to put the costumes together and I loved how they turned out! Want to go as a duo but both of you don't want to dress as champagne bottles? One of you can go as a champagne bottle the other can go as orange juice so you can be mimosa. Be sure to check out Cara's blog for workwear inspiration, all things colorful and printed, and fitness content!
