Lilly Pulitzer Sizing Guide 3.0

Back again with one of my most popular posts, my Lilly Pulitzer sizing guide! If you're like me, you love Lilly Pulitzer, but not the price tag. I typically get most of my Lilly items during their bi-annual After Party Sale, but the main con with the sale is that all sales are final so you have to be careful when purchasing. Since most of my shopping is done online for Lilly heavily rely on reviews of the fit of the clothing.

So whether you're preparing to shop the After Party Sale or just want to snag a new piece to add to your collection and want to know what size to pick up, hopefully, you'll find this post helpful. Be sure to check out my other two sizing guides to see more reviews on past Lilly pieces:

  • Lilly Pulitzer Sizing Guide
  • Lilly Pulitzer Sizing Guide 2.0

Before we jump into the sizing guide, here are my measurements and sizing. I will say, I have gained a few pounds since my first sizing guide back in college, and am closer to a medium than a small now. I would say I am a true medium in most stores and a size 4 in pants.

MEASUREMENTS:

HEIGHT: 5'4"

BUST:
WAIST:
HIPS:

Lilly Pulitzer Tawney Skort sizing review

TAWNEY SKORT IN HANGIN AROUND

Size: 4

Fit: True to size

Review: We all know I love a good Lilly skort. This skort fits pretty true to size and if you all read my Sizing Guide post from last year then you may know that I've included the Marigold skort in it and stated that it ran a half a size too big for me. I had gotten the Marigold skort in a 2 and it fits the same as this skort in a size 4. I even put the two skorts together for size comparison and they are the same width.

PRESTON TIE SLEEVE DRESS IN SNAP TO IT

PRESTON TIE SLEEVE DRESS IN SNAP TO IT

Size: Small

Fit: True to size

Review: This has been one of my new favorites this past year! This dress is so easy and comfy to throw on for work or running errands. Lilly cotton dresses are my favorites. I will say this dress is a little shorter on me compared to my other Lilly dresses, but I prefer the length of this dress better.

Lilly Pulitzer Izzy Skort in You're the Zest

IZZY SKIRT IN YOU'RE THE ZEST

Size: 4

Fit: True to size

Review: This is my first Lilly skirt and it did not disappoint! It's such a classic piece and I wish they would come out with more prints with it. It has very little stretch and is a good length for me to wear to work.

Lilly Pulizer ELLEE MIDI DRESS IN ZANZIBAR ZOO

ELLEE MIDI DRESS IN ZANZIBAR ZOO

Size: 4

Fit: True to Size

Review: This dress makes me so happy when I put it on! It's so comfortable and makes such a fun statement piece. I will say, the straps are not adjustable and I wish they were since they are a little too long for me, but I plan to sew them down to my desired length. This dress is padded so you can go bra-less and has some nice deep pockets (for all the snacks) as well as a zipper in the back.

SOPHIE DRESS IN PARTY IN PARADISE - Lilly Pulitzer

SOPHIE DRESS IN PARTY IN PARADISE

Size: Medium

Fit: Half a size large

Review: I had accidentally picked up the wrong size in this dress in-store, but it ended up fitting fine one me! I typically get a small in Lilly's cotton dresses, but the medium fits fine and I would even say if I had gotten a small it'd be too tight. The only thing with this dress is that it is that the length is a little longer than I'd like for my body and feel like the small would have a better length.

JESSE ROMPRE - Lilly Pulitzer

JESSIE ROMPER

Size: 4

Fit: Runs small

Review: Lilly had come out with a patchwork styled print of some of their popular past prints and I knew I wanted to get my hands on a piece with this pattern. This is such a cute romper, but I should have definitely sized up on this. I can zip up the romper and wear it out, but it is pretty snug. The smock back and adjustable straps are nice and I love the fact that this looks like a dress but has the comfort of shorts underneath.

ADRENA STRETCH SHIFT IN MANDEVILLA PINK - LILLY PULITZER

ADRENA STRETCH SHIFT IN MANDEVILLA PINK

Size: 6

Fit: Runs small

Review: Maybe it's my broad shoulders, but this dress ran very small for me. I typically get a size 4 in Lilly dresses, and even in a 6, this was very tight on my shoulder. This material doesn't offer much stretch either. Such a pretty style just didn't work for my body type.

SAHAR EMBROIDERED DRESS ROMPER IN TRUE NAVY - LILLY PULITZER

SAHAR EMBROIDERED DRESS ROMPER IN TRUE NAVY

Size: 4

Fit: True to size

Review: Such a cute romper and fits similar to my Donna rompers. I didn't end up purchasing this piece as I feel like the square neckline doesn't flatter me, but it's such a pretty piece!

LAKEN ROMPER IN HEY HEY SOEIL - LILLY PULITZER

LAKEN ROMPER IN HEY HEY SOEIL

Size: 4

Fit: True to size

Review: I really wanted to like this romper, but on me, it didn't really do much. I would say the fit is similar to Donna Rompers. This does not have adjustable straps but does have a zipper back. A cute piece just didn't' work for me.

9 Ways To Style A Graphic T-Shirt

Is your graphic tee collection growing and not sure how to style all of them? Don't worry, I got you covered.

how to style a graphic t-shirt

*This post is in partnership with Femme Luxe and all opinions are my own. Thank you for support brands that support The Daily Amy!*

Graphic t-shirts. They've been a wardrobe staple of mine for as long as I can remember. Back in middle school, I used to wear graphic t-shirts every single day and over-accessorized with the brightest and loudest jewelry pieces I could find at Clarie's. I thought I was the epitome of #fashoin back then. Fast forward about 12 years later and I still love graphic t-shirts just as much, just without all of the excessive accessories.

Today I've teamed up with my friends at Femme Luxe to share a few of my favorite ways of style graphic t-shirts. Because if you're anything like me, you can't resist a comfy tee with a sassy saying on it. If you're not familiar with Femme Luxe, they're an online retailer known for their "influencer inspired fashion." They offer a variety of clothing from joggers, loungewear, t-shirts, and jeans.

LOOK #1: MIDI SKIRT + SNEAKERS

Champagne T-Shirt c/o || Similar Midi Skirt || Sneakers || Sunglasses

For a casual and chic look, pair your tee with a fun midi and some white sneakers. I always try to have one color from my shirt match one color in my skirt to help make the look a little more cohesive. If you want the crop shirt look but don't want to cut your top, try tucking your t-shirt into your bra! I learned this little tip from TikTok and it's been so handy for when you want the look of a crop top but don't want to commit to cutting half of your shirt off.

LOOK #2: BOYFRIEND JEANS + HEELS

How to style a graphic t-shirt | how to style boyfriend jeans
How to style a graphic t-shirt | how to style boyfriend jeans

"Honey" Oversized - T-shirt c/o || Boyfriend Jeans || Heels || Sunglasses

This has been my go-to as of late. There's something about the combination of a feminine heel paired with a relaxed pair of boyfriend jeans that makes me feel like I can take on the world. For oversized graphic tees (or for the ones I steal out of my boyfriend's closet, hehe) my favorite way to style them is to simply tie it into a knot for a cropped lock and roll up the sleeves a bit.

LOOK #3: MINI SKIRT + SNEAKERS

How to style a graphic t-shirt

"Oh La La" Oversized T-Shirt c/o || Similar Skirt || Shoes

For a girlier / girl next door look, you can't go wrong with pairing your graphic tee with your favorite mini skirt and sneakers. I would say this is the most common way I like to style my t-shirts, you just can't go wrong with it!

Hair Donation 101: Everything You Need to Know

I can't believe it's already been over a month since I chopped over 10 inches of my hair off. Even though I didn't plan to go this short or to even donate my hair until I sat down in the salon chair, I am so happy that I did! Since my hair donation was pretty last minute and spontaneous my hairstylist and I pretty much did a quick Google on the minimum hair requirement to donate and got to choppin'.

Even though I wish I did a little bit more research on donation length, where to donate all those specifics before going to get my hair cut beforehand everything still ended up working out in the end. Today I've rounded up all the resources and information in one place in case you decide to donate your hair (and so you're not doing a quick Google minute beforehand like I did!).

Hair Donation 101: Everything you need to know

Hi Friends!

It's been about a month and a half since I started rockin' the short hair life and I haven't had any regrets so far! The only thing now is trying to figure out how to curl the back of my hair without burning myself, lol.

Donating my hair was always something I wanted to do at least once in my life and kind of forgotten about it until my hairstylist brought it up since I was planning to go significantly shorter anyways. With a quick Google and a few hair ties later the length to cut off the minimum donation requirement ended up being about a few inches shorter than what I had originally planned on cutting. I figured that if there was a chance that I absolutely hated the length it'd be fine because 1. we're all in quarantine so no one is really seeing me anyways (besides you know, the internet because of the blog, but we're all practically like family now, right?) and 2. it's just hair and it'll grow back!

I ended up cutting about 10 inches from band to band and ended up donating my hair to Children with Hair Loss which is a nonprofit organization that creates wigs for children with medically hair loss for free. I wanted to find an organization that had a minimum donation length less than 10 just in case for whatever reason we measured it wrong or just to have some extra security in the length.

Hair donation before and after

Thinking about donating your hair? Here are some quick notes beforehand:
  • Most places only accept hair that is not chemically treated. Some places have exceptions
  • You can go to almost any salon to get your hair cut for donation (For my CLT Babes, I went to Kenna Kunjio! Highly recommend, the SWEETEST staff!). Just make them aware ahead of time as they have to tie your hair in a ponytail/braid it beforehand
  • Have an organization picked out beforehand and read the donation instructions beforehand some of them have their own specific way of having the hair cut/donated

Organizations To Donate To:

1. Children with Hair Loss - Children with Hair Loss provides wigs for children and young adults with medically-related hair loss for free.

Requirements:
  • Donation Hair Length: Minimum 8 inches from band to band
  • Clean and dry hair shipped in a ziplock bag
  • Shipped in ponytail or braids
  • Non-chemically treated hair is preferred, but they will accept any hair that is in good condition
  • Gray hair is accepted

2. Wigs for Kids - make wigs that can "withstand typical kid activities" for free

Requirements:
  • Must be clean and stored/shipped dry
  • Hair donation length: Minimum 12 inches from band to band
  • Hair tied into at least four sections
  • Cannot be permed, color-treated or highlighted

3. Hair we Share - donates wigs to children under 18 and adults facing financial hardships

Requirements:
  • Hair donation length: minimum of 12 inches
  • Cannot be highlighted or bleached (can be dyed natural colors only)
  • Gray hair accepted
  • Do not accept hair that is an unnatural color
  • Hair must be sent clean and dry and in ponytails, not braids
*Note: They have certified salons that are able to properly cut your hair for donation, but if you are unable to find a certified salon near you, you can show them the instructions from their website.

Wal-Mart Fashion Finds

Ok, is it me or has Wal-Mart been stepping up their fashion game lately?

I feel like Wal-Mart fashion has taken the blogger world by storm in the past year or so. To be honest, I haven't really bought clothes from Wal-Mart since I moved out of my small hometown where our only choices for clothing were Wal-Mart and Burkes, but I was curious to check out their site after seeing some of their piece float around Instagram.

My Lilly Pulitzer Holy Grail Item

You know what they say if you like a piece, buy it in every color... or at least in this case every pattern.

I don't mean to play favorites but it's pretty clear there's a constant theme in my wardrobe. Over the years I've been slowly growing my Lilly Pulitzer collection and I cannot help but favor one style of clothing in particular, The Donna Romper.

Donna Romper || Shoes (affordable version HERE) || Similar Denim Jacket || Earrings || Watch || Purse

Many of you know that I have a *slight* love for Lilly Pulitzer. I mean, how can I not? The brand is all about bright sunny vacation vibes along with a selection of clothes with bright and unique prints. What's not to love? I've been shopping from Lilly Pulitzer since 2014 (mainly form APS, second hand, and Marshalls because ya girl is ballin' on a budget) and it's safe to say my collection has grown quite a bit. As my closet gets filled with more and more brightly printed pieces it's clear to see that I have a solid favorite style from Lilly.

Let me tell you all about the Donna Romper.

Lilly Pulitzer Donna RomperHow to style a lilly pulitzer romper

The Donna Romper was the very first romper I purchased from Lilly Pulitzer and I had bought it at the Lilly Pulitzer store at Disney Springs to celebrate moving to Florida for the Disney College Program. Since then I now have three in my collection and this palm print one is the latest edition to my collection. These rompers are my favorite because they look like a classic Lilly shift, but with shorts underneath which in my opinion is a lot more comfortable (I've had one too many "almost flash the entire world" situations than I'd like to admit, ok). This romper is also incredibly comfortable and such an easy piece to throw on and run out the door in AND you don't have to worry about wearing a particular bra with it. #win I also love how you can easily dress these rompers up or down by simply switching up your shoes and accessories.

SIZING:
I got a size 4 - would say it fits true to size
I am typically a small / medium and a size 4 in Lilly items

I styled the romper pretty casually here with my favorite denim jacket and white sneakers, but this can easily be dressed up with a pair of nude heels and ditch the jacket. (Like I've done so HERE!). This is one of my Lilly's classic styles and I don't see it going away anytime soon which is ok with me. The Pearl Romper is up there with one of my favorites as well being it's the same as the Donna but the neckline is more of a halter shape.

Hello Amess 2nd Launch: Summer Sunset

A collection inspired by the end of summer. Launching August, 9th at 12:00pm EST!

Hello Amess: Summer Sunset Collection

The second launch for my earring shop, Hello Amess goes live TOMORROW, August 9th at 12:00pm! I'm so so excited to be sharing some new pieces I've been working on and I cannot thank you all enough for the love and support of my little Etsy shop so far!

As summer is starting to wind down (which is CRAZY btw, I feel like the warm weather just got here??) I wanted to do a collection called Summer Sunset as a way to close out the summer months. When I think of summer ocean waves and pretty summer sunsets are the first few things that come to mind for me and that's what I wanted to this collection to reflect.

The Summer Sunset collection will include three new colors and patterns: Tidal Wave, Sun Kissed, and Carolina Sunset as well as three new styles: The Layla Drops, Evelyn Drops, and Mini Stella Studs. Not gonna lie, coming up with names for everything is almost just as fun as creating the earrings themselves! I am also bringing my most popular item from my first launch, the Talia studs, in a new color: Sun Kissed. I had a couple custom orders from my first launch to make them in a coral/orange color and I was obsessed with how they came out so I had to add them into this second launch. Here's a peek at what's coming tomorrow at noon:
