My Problem with Thanksgiving starting early

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I hope your day is filled with delicious food and being surrounded by your love ones; as it should be.

We all know that it's Thanksgiving on Thursday and Black Friday on...well Friday. In the past few years that hasn't been the case though. I've noticed that retailers are pushing the start of Black Friday sales earlier and earlier. Last year I thought it was crazy they started at 7pm and now I hear some stores are starting at 4pm? WHAT??

When do they expect people to eat their Thanksgiving dinner? In the cold while they're standing in a ridiculously long line for some electronic item they probably don't need? Uhm, no. Don't get me wrong, I love a good sale and I might as well be labeled as a shopaholic, but there's a time and place for that.

I know for me personally, I look forward to going home for Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I attend college four hours from home so going home and having a home cooked meal isn't something I can do often.

The sales can wait. The shopping can wait. You can go to the store any time to pick up that sweater you've been swooning over, but spending time with your love ones is limited. Tell the people in your life you love them because we're not promised tomorrow. Time is so precious and I promise you that you can live without that super chunk knit sweater that you're probably only going to wear twice this season.

Plus, Cyber Monday is where it's at (;

You can shop for pretty much the same deals from the comfort of your own home, in your pajamas AND you get to enjoy Thanksgiving with your family. Win win am I right?

Okay, now that I've gotten my thoughts on Black Friday off my chest, I'm going to end on a lighter note. Today is a day about giving thanks, so here is what I'm thankful for:

  • I'm thankful that my family is healthy and I'm fortunate enough to be living the lifestyle that I am living.
  • I'm thankful to have a person I care so much about come into my life and have such a positive impact on it.
  • I'm thankful that I have the opportunity to go to college to further my education.
  • Lastly, I'm thankful for all the wonderful things I am fortunate enough to experience in my life.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! May your bellies be stuffed with turkey and pumpkin pie!

Also, let me know what you're thankful for in the comments down below!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

xoxo
Amy

Fall Layers

Cardigan: Forever 21 (similar) // Plaid Flannel: Forever 21 // Necklace: Forever 21 //
Black Jeans: Forever 21 // Flats: Catos // Michael Kors Watch (similar)// Bracelete: Forever 21

Layering a cardigan over a button down shirt has got to be one of my favorite things to do lately; it adds warmth and a nice touch to the outfit! I love how this maroon cardigan from Forever 21 matches perfectly to the maroon in the plaid shirt from Forever 21. I think it's safe to say I love Forever 21... Forever 21 has such a variety of style of clothing and it's pretty affordable. My style and what I'm into changes pretty frequently and I like how I can update my closet without breaking the bank. I finished off the outfit with some basic black jeans, silver flats, a white statement necklace and called it a day.

I'm glad the weather decided to warm up just a tad this past weekend I was not happy about the 20-30 degree weather it decided to surprise us with this past week. It's like we only got to enjoy fall weather for two weeks and winter decided to take over! Hopefully the weather will stay above freezing for a little while so I can mentally prepare myself for how cold this winter is going to be...

Hello Blogging World!

I felt that I needed a post to introduce myself into the blogging world. This should have probably been my first post, but better late than never right?

So, about me. I'm a 19 year old college student attending school in Charlotte, NC. Going to school in the city is a big change from the small town I grew up in, but so far I'm enjoying it! I'd like to say that 98% of the time I'm a very type A and organized person. I'm known to just go into a friend's closet and organize everything without them asking. It's a little strange, but I haven't had anyone complain so far.

As for interests, I'm pretty much obsessed with anything that's pink or glittery! I spend way too much time on Pinterest and I love crafting. Oh, and shopping. Don't get me started on that subject. Online shopping is probably the worst thing that has ever happened to my bank account, but hey at least my closet is happy!

I'm really into eating healthy and trying to live a healthy lifestyle. Fruit and veggies pretty much make up 80% of my diet. (The other 20% is froyo!) Oh, and of course I love to dress up and play around with clothes! I love being able to express myself through clothing and experiment with different styles. That's a little about me for now, but I hope you tag along with me on this blogging journey to learn more!

Plaid is the color for fall

What my outfit looked like when I added the vest. (Shameless mirror pic.)

Red flannel: Forever 21 // Necklace: Forever 21 // Black Jeans: Forever 21 // Flats: Target //
Vest: Red Dress Boutique

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! It's just in that plaid is the official color for fall! Okay, maybe not officially, but it might as well be. It seems like as soon as the weather starts to cool down plaid is everywhere! Plaid skirts, plaid shirts, plaid scarfs, plaid everything! Hey, I'm not complaining one bit.

Today I decided to break out my classic red flannel to wear on this chilly fall day. I paired it with a white statement necklace and some classic black jeans. I have recently fallen in love with flannels, they're so cozy and comfy especially this one from Forever 21! I decided last minute to thrown on my herringbone vest from some extra warmth. I love playing around with patterns and layering lately! Maybe that's why I love fall fashion some much, there are so many possibilities you can come up with to stay warm and look cute!

Casual Sunday

White Sweater: Old Navy // Jeggings: American Eagle // Brown Boots: Forever 21 //
Scarf: (I don't remember)

Happy Sunday! Sundays and I have a love / hate relationship. I love the layback and chill vibe the day gives off, but on the other hand I hate how it's the last day of the weekend. To go with the layback vibe of the day I tend to gravitate towards an outfit that is on the more comfortable side. Today I Just threw on a slightly oversized sweater with some jeggings, ankle boots and a scarf and called it a day. I love how the plaid scarf has all of the colors of the outfit tied into it bringing the whole outfit together! Now I'm off to enjoy the rest of my Sunday before I have to re-motivate myself for the school week.

A touch of leopard

Black shirt: Forever 21 // Maroon pants: Forever 21 // Leopard Scarf: Wal-Mart //
Pearl Bracelet:Forever 21 // Watch: Michael Khors

I always love adding a pop of leopard print to an outfit to jazz it up. Here I'm pairing my favorite maroon skinnies with a plain black top and leopard scarf for a casual outfit to head off to class in.

Black, white and a pop of pink

Stripped Sweater: Forever 21 // Vest: Red Dress Boutique // Necklace: Forever 21//
Black jeans: Forever 21 // Flats: Target // Purse: Kate Spade

My wish for fall weather has been granted! The weather where I live has decided to cool down and I got the chance to break out my new vest yesterday. This is my first my first puffer vest I have ever owned and I am becoming OBSESSED! I decided to stay with a simple black and white color scheme with pops of pink in my accessories. I went for a sweater with wider stripes to contrast against the vest that had a much smaller pattern on it. This was my first time playing around with mixing patterns and I really like how it came out! What do you think about mixing prints?
