Sparkling Out of 2020 + Thank YOU!

WE MADE IT FRIENDS!!

We're now in the final hours of 2020 and I think we're all ready to put this year behind us. I wrote in my 2020 year-in-review post that despite how difficult the past year was, I am still very thankful that I still had some great highs to look back on. I also wanted to extend a special THANK YOU!

Sparkling out of 2020 + Thank YOU! | New Year's Eve at home outfit idea

Dress c/o use code: DAILYAMY15 for 15% off || Tights || Booties c/o || Earrings c/o use code: dailyamy for 10% off!

Today I wanted to take a minute to say a special thank you for all the love and support this past year. This past year was challenging for me in all aspects, including content creation. I've had to learn to transition into creating more content at home and really sit down on what I really wanted to share here on my little corner of the internet. I love how we get to talk about cute dresses and fashion, but I also wanted my space to mean more than that.

This past year I've slowly started to open up and got vulnerable with you. I shared how I've been struggling with my mental health, the absolute lows in my life, and spoke out on issues I'm passionate about. I'm not going to lie, it's scary to open up, but you have been there every step of the way.

Sparkling out of 2020 + Thank YOU!
Sparkling out of 2020 + Thank YOU!

I also wanted to say thank you for simply reading my blog posts, shopping through my liketoknow.it links, showing some extra love on my sponsored content or just engaging with me on social media. I know it is silly to stress over numbers such as likes and follows, but in the space where those determine the number of brand collaborations/opportunities, it is definitely something I've always had to keep in mind.

I started blogging as a creative outlet and the majority of the content I publish is funded out of my own pocket for free for you to enjoy. Creating content is something I really enjoy and sponsored / affiliate links help fund this little space so I can continue pumping out free content for you all to enjoy. With that being said, every click, like, save, and share has not gone unnoticed!

Sparkling out of 2020 + Thank YOU!

I already have so many ideas and content planned for 2021 that I cannot wait to share with you all! You can expect more blogging behind the scenes, video content, and, of course, style post! So, cheers to another year together, and again, thank you for joining me!

Happy New Year!

xoxo,
Amy

2020 Year in Review

 Man, what. a. year.

It's no surprise that 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. With a global pandemic, protest for racial justice, a heated election, all during a time where the nation feels even more divided than ever, it's hard to believe everything happened all in a span of one year. I've said it multiple times, but this year has felt like three different years for me. The first two months felt like a different time period, then the start of lockdown, and now where we have adjusted to being in a "new normal" of COVID precautions.

This past year we've learned to adapt to a new way of living, got creative on how to celebrate milestones, and showed our loungewear more love than we ever have before. It was a year filled with anxiety, fear, and so much uncertainty. If you've been a reader for a while, you know that I do a year-in-review post every December where I reflect on the past year's highlights and milestones and share some favorite past blog posts as a way to wrap up the year. There was a point this year where I considered not even doing a year-in-review post because why would I want to reflect on a year that has caused me so much pain and loss? But, the more I thought about it, even though this year had a lot of lows that stood out, there were quite a few highs that I wanted to highlight as well.

2020 Year in Review

In last year's recap post I wrote that 2018 was the year of new experiences and that 2019 was the year of change and growth. If I had to label 2020 I'd say it was the year of reflection and gratitude. So, here's a peek into my year.

JANUARY

I started 2020 off excited and hopeful. This was going to be my year. I had planned to travel at least once a month, finally branch out and make new friends in the city and step out of my comfort zone. I was so excited to see what this year had to hold.

I rang in 2020 at a small party at a friend's house. Like most people at the start of the year, I started on my fitness goals on a strong foot. I continued to go to my weekly classes at SweatMethod and was pretty consistent with running at my gym. My weekends consisted of going to date nights with Christian at Discovery Place, showing Christian's brother our favorite spots in the city, trying out new restaurants, and meeting up with blogger friends for lunch dates. I also had the opportunity to travel to Atlanta for a work trip which would have kicked off my first of many trips planned for the year. 2020 was off to such a great start.

FEBRUARY

Looking back on it now, it felt like February foreshadowed the rest of 2020 for me. It was the month where I went from being so happy and feeling like I was on top of the world to complete darkness in an instant.

In February, I took my second trip of the year down to Disney to visit my friends from the Disney College Program. It was definitely one of the best weekends I've had and it felt so good to catch up with some of my favorite people... even though it resulted in me having a knee injury for most of the month. In February I also continued to push myself to go out and be social. The month consisted of going to a 90's themed celebration at Seoul Food, meeting up with some local bloggers, and celebrating my second Valentine's day with Christian. The first half of February had some of my favorite memories of the year.

And then I got a call on February 18th.

I've been fortunate in that I haven't experienced a lot of loss in my life. I wrote in last year's round-up that I had lost my grandmother back in March and it was the first time I had ever attended a funeral. I loved my grandmother and it was tough for me to lose her. The call I got in February was an entirely different pain. For the first time, I opened up on Instagram on this passing and the pain I felt.

Opening up and being vulnerable both online and off has always been a challenge for me, but I've made the decision to try and share more of that on my platforms this year. Despite how joyful and colorful our social media feeds may seem, we're all going through something and sometimes I feel like we lose that human aspect by not sharing those struggles online. I wrote a post on my thoughts and dealing with grief and ended up stepping back from the blog for a few months to heal.

MARCH

March. The month that I have been looking forward to since last September when I purchased my plane ticket to Peru. I had announced in a blog post back in January that I was jet setting off to Peru with Christian's family and have been planning for this trip for the past six months. We took off at the beginning of the month and although I was still grieving, I figured this trip was exactly what I needed, a break from everything.

At this time the news of Coronavirus started to pick up and there were some concerns, but there was still a green light to travel. We still took precautions in terms of sanitizing frequently and changing out of our outside/travel clothes as soon as possible. To be honest, as we escaped to Peru for two weeks we thought the news of COVID-19 would die down.

Over the next two weeks, I explored the beautiful country of Peru, saw the most unbelievable sights, and ate some of the best food I have ever had. We had spent a week in Cusco where we were able to hike up Machu Picchu and ended the trip with a few days in Lima. I felt so recharged and inspired by everything I saw during my trip.  It was truly the break I needed. You can see more of my trip on my YouTube channel!

And then the world went into lockdown.

It was the last night of our trip when the news of countries beginning to go into lockdown broke out. Peru had just announced that they were closing their borders and we were scheduled to fly out in eight hours. In a panic, we packed up our belonging and rushed to the airport filled with other travelers frantically trying to get their flights changed to get out of the country before the lockdown was enforced. There was so much fear and panic at the airport that night. It was a completely different scene from the nearly deserted airport we saw just a few short weeks prior. After navigating the airport in the wee hours of the morning, nearly missing our connecting flight and running on barely any sleep, Christian and I were able to make it back to States. My boyfriend actually managed to help us navigate all of our flights back to the states and even drive us home from DC to Charlotte on zero hrs of sleep.

The next week consisted of us catching up on the news of the pandemic, self quarantining, and stocking up on supplies to stay at home for what we thought was only for two weeks. At the time there weren't any requirements to self-quarantine after traveling, but out of an abundance of caution, our employers requested we worked from home for the next two weeks. A week later, North Carolina went into Stay at Home orders.

APRIL

April was tough. We found out Christian had tested positive for COVID-19 and a few days later I became symptomatic as well. At the time my roommate/cousin had gone home to stay with her parents while I was in Peru for spring break and ended up staying there for the next month due to the lockdown. In a way, it worked out well since I had the apartment to myself to quarantine in and didn't put my cousin at risk for getting sick, but on the flip side, it was challenging.

I'd like to consider myself reasonably healthy. I'm young, active, and ate reasonably well, but still had a hard time with the virus. While I was sick, I tried my best to downplay my symptoms and how I felt to not make my parents worry more than they already did, but in reality, the virus was hard on my body. Every ounce of energy I had was drained, even walking five steps to my bathroom was a struggle. I had a fever for two weeks, felt nauseous, felt winded from simple tasks, and coughed so much to the point where I would cry because my abdomen hurt so much. And then there was the mental toll of being isolated alone.

It's hard to explain how I felt during those three weeks because outside looking in, it was only three weeks of being alone, but at the time it felt like an eternity. I spent days alone in my bed with just my thoughts and at that time I began to process the feelings and grief I had pushed aside while was away in Peru. During this time my anxiety was at an all-time high and it was the first time I really struggled with my mental health. Despite having Christian's family graciously dropping off food at my doorstep and having loved ones check in on me virtually, I never felt more alone. The best way I could describe it was I was in a dark bubble filled with every negative thought I had in my head and the bubble kept closing in on me gradually. I couldn't see out of it and was just consumed by these negative thoughts.

Then my fever broke.

I'm not sure if it was because I finally had some good news, but it was like a switch had turned on. The dark bubble I was in began to fade, I slowly started to get enough energy to make my own food, and my spirits began to lift. On my 25th birthday, I got cleared to come out of quarantine, and being able to walk around my apartment complex was the best gift I could ever ask for. I was so grateful.

MAY

I spent most of May adjusting to the "new normal." I started posting TikTok dances to help strengthen my lungs and slowly started to create content again. If April was a dark, dense storm cloud May was a clear summer day. My perspective had changed and I was grateful for everything. I now saw being quarantined alone in my apartment as a chance to create content uninterrupted. I felt like I could breathe again.

JUNE

If 2020 is anything, it's consistent. After coming off a high from recovering from COVID-19 we saw the nation break out into protests demanding racial equality. We took a step back and listened to the Black community as they voiced their frustrations and opened our eyes to the flawed system that has been swept under the rug for centuries. Difficult conversations were made and this time really opened my eyes to the people in my life who showed their true colors. I found my heart breaking again for our country and wrote a post to help fellow Asian Americans talk to their parents about Black Lives Matter.

In June I also packed up my apartment, said goodbye to my cousin, and moved in with Christian. I've had several moves in my life and this one just hit differently. This was my first "grown-up" apartment where I was financially on my own. Last year I worked so hard to land a job back in Charlotte and to me, this apartment symbolized all that hard work and having a job where I could afford rent. Definitely bittersweet.

JULY - SEPTEMBER

At this point in the year, events began to mellow out. Thank goodness.

The two main highlights for the next couple of months include me cutting off my hair and starting up my Etsy shop. With the past six months filled with major highs and lows, I needed a mellow summer. My days were filled with getting into my groove with my blog, making earrings, and adjusting to living with Christian. To be honest, the days were pretty monotonous and a bit of a blur, but I think mentally the break was much needed.

OCTOBER

Then the election news was EVERYWHERE. I will admit, I never really cared or got too involved in politics in the past. This was actually the first election that I ever voted in. It may be a mix of us being in quarantine for so long that the news of the election was the only thing that had us occupied, or the fact that there were so many policies on the line, or possibly a combination of both, that I began to get involved in the politics for the next month. Tunning into election news and reading up on policies began to be a part of my everyday routine. I wanted to be as informed as possible.

In October I also had the opportunity to travel for the first time since March.

At this point, I hadn't seen my parents since February when I made a trip home for a memorial service. I've grown very close to my parents in the past two years and have always been able to see them at least once a month. This had been the longest I've gone without seeing them and it was really hard on me. After 7 months of being in quarantine, Christian, my brother, and I made the decision that the risk of seeing them was low enough. My brother lives alone and the three of us have been working from home since March. On top of that, none of us have seen our friends or have gone out since the lockdown. To take it one step further, we made sure two weeks prior to not risk exposing ourselves by not going to the grocery store or any outings beforehand.

With all those precautions in place, we made a weekend trip to see my parents. It was long overdue and the recharge I didn't know I needed.

NOVEMBER

November we celebrated having the first female vice president in the White House.

For Thanksgiving, my brother and I made the decision to spend the weekend with our parents and then ultimately decided that would be the last visit we'd make for the rest of the year as it kept getting riskier and riskier as cases began to rise and with me starting to go back in the office for work. The week was spent consuming so much food and quality family time. It was moments like this I had taken for granted every time I had visited before and was glad I got to spend one of my favorite holidays with them.

DECEMBER

December was a complete blur. Seriously, where did the month go?

Pre COVID times I was always so rushed with balancing work, trying to find the perfect gift, and fitting in times to enjoy the holiday festivities that I always wished that I had more time to enjoy the holiday season. Now that the world seemed to be put on pause and we have more time than we know what to do with on our hands, I felt like I was even out of the holiday spirit even more than when I had a jammed pack schedule.

This was the first Christmas I had spent without my parents. It was strange. I still feel like I'm waiting for Christmas to come since I haven't seen them yet. Even though the holidays felt a little off this year, I'm thankful I was able to spend it with my quarantine crew.

Key takeaways from 2020:
  • I can no longer use the "I don't have enough time" excuse. I could have all the time in the world, but it doesn't matter unless I actually do something with it. If something matters you will make time for it.
  • A change in perspective is EVERYTHING. Take a step back, zoom out, walk away for a minute. The world may feel like it's crashing down all at once but once you take a moment to look from the outside in, it isn't as bad as it seems.
  • Reason, season, or a lifetime. Those who are meant to be in your life will find a way to be a part of it.
Thank you all for following along for another year! It's been a challenging one for sure, but I am so thankful to be able to share a bit of my life with you all. I'm eager to see what the new year has in store and excited to create more content here in this space!

xoxo,
Amy

With that being said, I hope you still consider checking out these amazing shops for future purchases for yourself or other holidays. 10 Socially Distant Ways to Celebrate the Holidays

It's the holiday season and even though the holidays are looking a little different this year, there are still some safe ways to enjoy a little bit a Christmas joy this year. Now that we're in flu season and with numbers continue to rise with COVID it's so important now that we stay safe, wear our masks, and stay away from others as much as possible. If you're looking for some ways to safely celebrate the holidays this year, I've rounded up some socially distant ideas to get into the holiday spirit for you all!

Socially Distant ways to celebrate the holidays

Sweater c/o use code: DAILYAMY15 for 15% off || Dress

'Tis the season! I know the holidays are looking a lot different for many of us right now and with 2020 being such a tough year it can be hard to get into the Christmas spirit. I know my brother and I had made the difficult decision to not see our parents this year for Christmas as the numbers continue to rise we figured it'd be too risky for the four of us to get together. As unfortunate and sad as it is, I know it's for the best and better safe than sorry. On the bright side, I'm able to hit up the after Christmas sales for their gifts this year and will have a little extra time shopping for them.

Even though holiday plans are having to shift this year and many of us will have to celebrate them virtually, there are still plenty of ways to safely get into the holiday spirit. I've rounded up 10 socially distant ways to celebrate the holidays in today's post.

Socially Distant ways to celebrate the holidays

1. Bake Christmas cookies

Is it really the holidays if the house doesn't smell like a warm sugary wonderland? Breakout your favorite cookie recipe and bake up treats for yourself and your loved ones to drop off at their doorstep. Trader Joe's currently has a few great pre-mixed cookies in store if you don't want to find a recipe and make it from scratch!

2. Drive around and look at Christmas lights

There's something about Christmas lights that make me all giddy and feel like a little kid again. Hop in your car with some hot cocoa in hand and drive around to see the Christmas lights in your neighborhood. I'm sure it'll get you right into the holiday spirit!

3. Have a Christmas movie marathon

Home Alone, Elf, Santa Clause... Gather all of the childhood classics and your favorite snacks and binge-watch all of your favorite holiday movies. I actually just watched Elf for the first time last week! It's such a cute movie and def got me into the Christmas spirit.

4. Send out Christmas cards

Sending annual Christmas cards is one of my favorite things to do during the holidays. There's something so special about getting a handwritten card, especially in the age of all things digital. If you want, look up to see if you can send a holiday card to a hospital near you to thank the healthcare workers for all they've done during this pandemic. Just because it's the holidays doesn't mean COVID is letting up and I'm sure they'll appreciate the little bit of holiday cheer.

5. Have a virtual holiday cocktail hour/gift exchange

Safe to say holiday cocktail parties aren't going to be a thing this year but that doesn't mean you still can't enjoy a festive drink and catch up with your friends virtually. Sure it's nothing compared to being in person, but at least this way you don't have to worry about paying for an Uber home!

6. Show some extra appreciation to your local delivery drivers

Delivery drivers are already overworked during the holiday season but add a pandemic where people are online shopping more than ever to eliminate going outside you can only imagine how hard it can be on them. Show them some extra appreciation by leaving some snacks and treats out for them or just even a simple thank you note. I'm sure it will go a long way.

7. Build a gingerbread house

A holiday classic! Make a festive holiday drink, turn on some Christmas music and spend some time putting together a gingerbread house with your quarantine crew! Get one for each person and you can turn it into a gingerbread house competition!

8. Dress up and celebrate at home with your quarantine crew

If you're like me then you love getting dressed up for the holidays. I mean, velvet, sequins, and faux fur? What's not to love? Switch it up from your comfy sweats and get dressed up with your quarantine crew to take some fun holiday photos, eat a festive meal together, for a virtual zoom holiday party, or simply just because. It's the little things.

9. Take a virtual SkillPop class

From holiday hairstyles to learning to embroidered ornaments to cookie decorating, there are a wide variety of SkillPop classes you can take to help you get into the Christmas mood. Classes range from $20 - $25!

10. Shop for your loved ones and support some local small businesses

No surprise that the pandemic has taken a toll on small businesses this year. Consider shopping small this year for your Christmas shopping! I put together a gift guide featuring some of my favorite small businesses if you'd like to check that out!

Christmas Gift Guide for the Tech Lovers

Christmas Gifts for Tech Lovers

Gadgets and gizmos are aplenty! Shopping for a tech lover in your life? Check out my round-up of my picks for some Christmas gift ideas. I'm covering gifts ranging from stocking stuffers to splurge-worthy gifts. Many of these items are items Christian and I have owned and love. Here are some highlights:

Mavik Mini Drone - Christian purchased this for our Peru trip earlier this year and it was so cool capturing Peru from a different point of view. We love that it's so compact and can easily be packed away in a backpack.

WebCam Cover - Raise your hand if you or someone you know currently has a piece of paper covering their webcam right now... guilty. This little webcam cover would be a great stocking stuffer and would look a lot better than a piece of paper taped onto your computer.

Bluelight Glasses - Many of us have shifted to working from home or online schooling thanks to Miss Rona. Save them some eye strain and gift them some blue light glasses this Christmas! You can find a variety of them on Amazon in a variety of styles!

Digital Photo Printer - If you have that one friend who's always snapping photos then this little camera would be a cute gift idea! It's essentially like a Polaroid camera in terms of you take a photo and it prints out instantly!

Phone Case - I feel like you can't really go wrong with a cute phone case! Baublebar has some cute personalized ones, Casetify has a great selection of iPhone cases and OtterBox is my personal favorite since they carry great protective phone cases for Samsung phones as well!

My Christmas Wishlist 2020

My chirstmas wishlist 2020

Anyone else feel like the older they get the harder it is to make Christmas wishlists? I mean, I don't really need anything and I've gotten to the point in my life where the items I want I can easily buy myself or save up for it. As I've gotten older I've realized things are just that, things. I guess that's when you know you're really growing up, huh? I feel like if I were to be gifted anything I would want it to have some sort of sentimental value.

With that being said, figuring out what to put in this year's post has been a struggle and I even debated whether or not to even publish one this year, but this has still been a popular request from you all! When putting together this list I mainly focused on things I have in my shopping cart for some time now and plan on purchasing eventually! I hope this help give you all some ideas on what to ask for this holiday season or ideas on what to gift yourself!

My Christmas wishlist 2020

J.Crew City Coat - I have been needing a good winter coat for a while now and been eyeing the infamous J.Crew City Coat for a while now! The gray color is such a nice change from my usual all black wardrobe in the winter and will still go with a lot.

Bear Cup - Ok, how cute is this little cup? I don't really need another cup in our cabinet, but how cute would it be to drink iced coffee from this?

Laptop Riser - Like most, COVID has made me adjust to working at home. Even though I am back in the office for most days out of the week I have found that I really enjoy sitting at an actual desk to do blog work. This laptop riser would be great for me to help with my posture and rise my laptop higher.

Wireless Keyboard - Going along the theme of working from home. With a laptop riser I'd need a wireless  keyboard so I can easily type. This pink one is adorable!

Laptop Backpack - I have been needing a new work bag for a while and have been eyeing this backpack for a while now! I have been a tote gal for a while but think a sleek backpack would be more practical.

Makeup Bag - currently all of my makeup is just casually being stored in a shopping bag under our sink... We don't have a ton of storage space in our bathroom and think this case would be perfect to fit all of my makeup and I can easily take it on the go with me once it's safe to travel again!

Reusable Makeup Wipes - I want to get more into reducing my waste and love the idea of these reusable makeup wipes. You can easily throw them in the wash to clean them and you can't go wrong with pink.

Wireless Mouse - Again, making a desk set up. Christian recommends this wireless mouse and it's pretty cute!

Heat Protectant - Don't yell at me... I don't really use heat protectant on my hair when I style it... I know. I have heard great things about this Bumble and Bumble brand!

Slippers - I have been wearing house slippers NONSTOP and it definitely shows. I think it's time to switch mine out for some new ones.

What are you asking for this year for Christmas?

xoxo,

Amy

Christmas Gift Ideas for Parents

Parents. They're one of the hardest people to shop for and if your parents are like mine then they literally have everything or they yell at you for spending your money on them. Every year my brother and I are always teetering back and forth on what to get our parents and usually go the sentimental route for them.

Today I've recruited my parents to share some gift ideas with you all! Many of these items are either their favorite items they've been gifted or own and think would be great gifts. I will also include some DIY gifts down below because you can't go wrong with something handmade or sentimental for parents.

GENERAL GIFTS FOR PARENTS

Nespresso Machine

I feel like if you want to do a combined gift for your parents or significant other parent's, and you are able to, then consider splurging on a bigger gift that they can both enjoy. This Nespresso Machine has been a hit in our household to make delicious lattes at home every morning. If your parents are avid coffee drinkers this would make a great gift and to take it up a notch you could throw in a set of matching mugs or your favorite pods.

My Family Cookbook

Have all of their family recipes put together in one book to pass down for generations to come. This cookbook allows you to write in all of your favorite recipes and would be a great gift to give. Call up all your aunties and grandmothers for their favorite recipes and fill in the first few pages to get the book started!

Kindle

For the parent who loves to read, travels a lot or wants a library full of books but not the space, then the Kindle would be the perfect gift. You could even include a card with a few of your favorite books as suggestions or books you think they would like. Christian has one and uses it daily!

Wine Glasses

For the parents who love to entertain or just love a good glass of wine, try treating them to a nice set of glasses. This set looks so sleek and classy and affordable too! Want to go a step further? Gift this with their favorite bottle of wine!

Electric Wine Opener

Another one for the wine lovers, an electric wine opener! Christian's parents own this and it's such a fun thing to break out every-time we enjoy a bottle of wine. This one comes in a variety of colors!

Security Camera

Give the gift of feeling security with a home security camera. This one shoots in 4k and works with Google Assistant. This would be a great gift for parents who travel often or just want some extra security in their home.

Temperature Control Smart Mug

Ok, this one is a little extra, but perfect for the parent who hates having their coffee go cold. This temperature control mug keeps your coffee pipping hot so you can enjoy a warm cup of coffee as long as you like. Perfect for those working from home right now!

Cheese Board

Who doesn't love a good cheese board? This one is so sleek and would be a great gift for the parents who love entertaining or just in general! Want to take it a step further? Gift this as a cheese board with their favorite cheeses, crackers, meats, and jams! They can enjoy the spread and keep the board afterwards.

SENTIMENTAL / DIY  IDEAS FOR PARENTS

Still stuck on a gift idea? When figuring out a gift for my parents or significant other parent's I like to go towards the side of sentimental or DIY. As nice a shiny new fancy coffee machine is, sometimes the best gifts are the ones that come from the heart. These gift ideas are also great if you are shopping on a budget!

FAMILY YEARBOOK

I've actually started gifting this to my mom every year for the past few years. Essentially you gather all of your family photos from the past year and compile them in to a book! I make mine through Shutterfly, and it's super easy to plug in all of the photos and add text. This is a great way to sit down at the end of the year and look back on everything that's happened. Since my brother and I have moved out and live further away from my parents, this is also a great way for my parent's to have photos of us and see what we've been up to! You could also do it scrapbook style and hand create the family yearbook yourself too!

BOX OF COOKIES

Who doesn't love a box of home baked cookies? Get their favorite cookie recipe or two and bake them a box of their favorite treats! I gifted these to Christian's parents last year and they were a hit! His parents are Peruvian and with Christian's help I found a Peruvian cookie recipe to recreate and package them up in a cute festive tin!

A FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT

In the age of all things digital more pictures are taken on cell phones but are rarely printed. I think it would be fun to reach out to a local photographer and gift a family photoshoot to your parents. This way they can have nice, professional photos to look back on and you can even take it a step further and offer to pay for a few of their favorite prints so they are able to hang them up around the house!

What's a gift you've gifted to your parents that was a hit? Let me know down below! I hope you were able to find some gift ideas for your parents or significant other's parents in today's post. Thank you all for reading!

xoxo,

Amy

How to Incorporate Blair Waldrof's Style Into Your Wardrobe

Hello Upper East Siders.

If you love Gossip Girl as much as I do then Jason Derulo's song "Whatcha Say" has been stuck in your head all of Thanksgiving week as well. IYKYK. It's been quite a few years since Gossip Girl originally aired, but the iconic gossip-filled show is still a top favorite of mine for style inspiration. Today I thought it would be fun to break down Blair Waldorf's iconic style and how you can incorporate it into your wardrobe! The best part is, you don't have to break the bank to do so!

HOW TO DRESS LIKE BLAIR WALDORF

Whether she's scheming with Chuck, shopping with Serena, or eating macaroons in Paris Blair is always dressed to the nines. Blair's style is very feminine and polished. She loves her classic silhouettes and structured clothing items. You can most likely find pieces such as a classic pea coat, classic button-down shirt, a-line skirts, and ruffled blouses in her closet.

DITCH THE PANTS

First things first, ditch the jeans and it's all skirts and dresses for Queen B. Blair is usually seen wearing dresses and skirts pretty much all year round. She's rockin' bare legs for the warmer months and opting for tights for the cooler ones. Blair is most commonly seen in a-line and pencil dresses/skirts.

TIGHTS

Piggybacking on the previous point, Blair is all about her tights. I can totally see Blair rockin' some designer tights in 2020. Although brightly colored tights aren't for me, I am on the hunt for a good subtle polka dot pair. Pair these babies under your favorite skirts and dresses for and you'll look both cute and warm this winter.

BE BOLD

From bright colors to mixing prints, Blair isn't afraid to stand out with her style. Blair isn't afraid of color and loves to incorporate a fun pop any chance she gets. Whether it be a bold tight, fun handbag or a colorful pea coat she's the queen of making bold colors look chic and polished. Blair is commonly seen matching her bag with her shoes.

HEELS ARE THE MOVE

Sneakers are definitely not in rotation of shoes for Queen B. She's most commonly seen wearing a colorful pair of pumps or heeled sandals in the summer.

FINISH IT OFF WITH A HEADBAND

Can it really be a Blair Waldorf look without her signature headband? Headbands have been trending for a couple seasons now and I can't help but feel like Queen B whenever I wear one. Finish off your look with a coordinating headband and you're all set with your look!

Are you a Gossip Girl fan? Let me know who your favorite character is down below! I hope you all enjoyed the post and as always, thank you for reading!

xoxo,

Amy
