The weather here has been beautiful these past few days! This past week the weather has been pretty muggy and cloudy, so it is defiantly nice to see the sun come out. There are just some days where I am completely stuck on what to wear. I would sit down in front of my closet and just stare at it trying to figure out what to put on. On days where I am having a styling block, I turn to my basics. Every girl, in my opinion, should have at least one basic white t-shirt, a pair of good fitting jeans, a basic cardigan, and pair of black leggings. In my opinion, those are the basic foundations on building an outfit.
On this particular day I started out with pairing a white t-shirt with some black leggings and a cardigan. I dressed the outfit up with a scarf, pearl earrings, some arm candy and I'm good to go! Now I am going out to enjoy this beautiful weather while I can!
One of my New Year's resolutions, like many others, was to workout more consistently. Before when I would workout it would be for two to three weeks straight then it would be two weeks where I wouldn't even touch my running shoes. January is starting to wind down and so far I have been doing good on getting my butt to the gym six days a week, every week. I actually started my workout resolution the week of Christmas (because who says resolutions have to start on January 1st?). I have even got my roommates on track to go to the gym with me!
One of the things that have made me want to head to the gym more is cute workout clothes! I know it sounds silly, but it's true. When I have a cute workout outfit on I want to hit the gym and kind of show it off. Think about it, if you have on some stained sweatpants and baggy t-shirt on would really want to go out to the gym? Probably not. I know working out isn't all about what you wear, but if it makes you feel good and motivated to go to the gym, why not put some thought into your outfit? Some of my favorite places to get my workout clothes are Forever 21 and Old Navy. They have super cute workout clothes that won't break the bank. Where do you like to buy your workout clothes?
That's right, Lilly Pulitzer is collaborating with Target! Target released the news about the collaboration on Tuesday January 6th. The collection will have 15 exclusive prints, 250 limited edition items and will launch on April 19th. (The day before my birthday, happy early birthday to me!!) You can follow the Instagram account @lillyfortaget for sneak peaks of the collection. I'm so excited for the collection to launch and I can't wait to get my hands on some of the pieces. What do you think about the collaboration?
In honor of the collaboration, here are some of my favorite picks from Lilly Pulitzer.
Happy New Years!!
2015. Wow, that's going to take a while to get use to. The year 2015 has always been a weird year for me to think about because it's the year my younger brother graduates high school. It's just hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that he's going to go off to college this year. Something about my brother graduating high school makes it hit hard that we're growing up.
Okay, enough with the realization that we can't be 17 forever. Since it is a new year and a perfect time to set new goals I thought it would be appropriate to write down my new years resolutions. (Cliche right?) I figured since my resolutions would be on the internet for the world to read I am more likely to stick to them. At least that's the plan.
- Be consistent with working out. I know I know everyone always makes it a goal to be healthier, workout more and get fit at the start of the new year. For me, I go through phases with my workout routine. For three months straight I would be working out everyday and enjoying it, and then there would be a month or two I don't even touch my running shoes. I want to make it my goal this year to keep up with a consistent workout routine.
- Maintain my spot on the Dean's List. After my first semester freshman year of college, I quickly realized that keeping up the grades I had in high school were going to be a lot harder in college. After learning from my first semester I managed to change my study habits and were able to get on the Dean's list for my school for two semesters in a row. I'm shooting to keep that streak going.
- Be more consistent on my blog. I want try to make some sort of schedule where I can post once or twice a week for starters. I know at the moment posting everyday would be hard to shoot for, but I want to try to be more consistent than just once every few weeks.
That's pretty much it for my new year's resolutions. I didn't want a crazy long list of goals because I now it was going to be overwhelming for me to complete everything. It's going to be interesting to see around this time next year if I have reached my goals! What are some of your new years resolutions?
