January Highlights

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday!
Today I am doing my monthly favorites a little differently. Instead of posting about what products and clothing pieces I have been loving for the past month, I thought it would be fun to share some highlights and things that happened in the past month. Kind of like a monthly recap. Let me know if you prefer my regular monthly favorites or these monthly highlights better!

I cannot believe that January is already over! This past month was jammed pack with the new year starting, Lilly Pulitzer After Party sale, the new semester starting and so many other events!

At the beginning of January I finally jumped on the bandwagon and picked up an adult coloring book and now I totally get the hype! I love getting to feel like a little kid again and it really is calming! I highly recommend it! You can pick one up for yourself here!

January is my roommate's birthday month! We celebrated her 22nd with a delicious dinner!

I also got a chance to celebrate one of my longest friend's birthday this past month as well! We've been friends since Kindergarden!

January we had our first snow of the season and was able to get out of classes and work for two days! Yay! Also, I know UGGs get a lot of hate because they aren't the most "fashionable" pair of shoes, but I love them for winter. My feet get super cold in the winter so comfort over style is a defiant must for me in the winter months. I have been loving these UGGs with the little bows on the back of them though. So cute!

Let's not forget that the Panthers won the NFC division title this past month as well! I'm so excited to watch them play in the Super Bowl this Sunday!!

I got to experience my first restaurant week this past month in Charlotte! Restaurant week is when 100+ restaurants in Charlotte price a three-course meal for $30 - $35. So you can eat at five star restaurants for a decent price. I got to go out to eat with my favorite boys at Mortons and it was delicious!

What was your favorite thing that happened this past month? Let me know down in the comments below! Also, let me know if you guys like this style of January favorites / highlights better or the way I usually do them in the comments! I hope you all have a great day! (:

Peak of Plaid

Plaid Shirt: Forever 21 (similar) // Sweater: Forever 21 (similar and on sale!) // Vest: Red Dress Boutique (similar) // Jeans: American Eagle // Flats: Target // Watch: Michael Kors

Happy February everyone!

I cannot believe that we are already one month into 2016! It seriously felt like the new year just started the other day!

The whether here in Charlotte has been a little odd lately. We had snow for a couple days and the temperatures were freezing, and now it's been in the 40-50s for the past couple of days. I feel like this is abnormally warm for winter here, but should I really be complaining?

For today's outfit I'm taking advantage of not needing a heavy coat and styling my herringbone vest, again. When I say this vest is super versatile I mean it! I have already styled this vest at least 3 times on my blog! For this look I just layered my favorite plaid top under a white cable knit sweater. I threw on my herringbone vest for a little extra warmth and finished off the look with my favorite pair of jeggings.

I feel like I have been unknowingly wearing a lot of red and pink lately, maybe because Valentine's day is slowly creeping up on us! I want to do a post on some outfit ideas that I think will be perfect for any Valentine's day celebration so be sure to be on the look out for that!

I hope you all have a great Monday!

Black, White and Plaid all over

Stripe Top: Nordstrom (love this top!) // Black Sweater: Forever 21 (similar) // Scarf: Old Navy (same scarf, different color here) // Black Pants: Target (similar) // Boots: Just Fab // Purse: Kate Spade (similar)

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope all of you had a great week and are excited that the weekend is finally here! It’s restaurant week here in Charlotte so a couple of my friends and I are headed out to dinner tonight! I’m so excited and cannot wait to devour some delicious French food!

For today’s outfit I’m featuring this beautiful plaid blanket scarf that I picked up from Old Navy around their Black Friday sales. The second I saw the color combinations on this scarf I knew I had to have it!

The funny thing about plaid is that I was never really a fan of it until my senior year of high school (if you’ve been keeping up with my posts that would make it about four years ago!). Before then I hated anything that had to do with plaid print, and look at me now! My closet is full of plaid scarfs and shirts. I’m from the mountains so I guess I always associated plaid with a “country look” (which btw, there’s nothing wrong with that, just not my style at all) so that’s why I avoided the print for so long. After I realize that you can still wear plaid and still look city chic I was all in!

I wanted to keep the outfit pretty simple color wise so the colors on the scarf could really pop. This outfit consists all of my favorite go-to pieces such as my cable knit cardigan, black and white strip top, black jeggings, black ridding boots and of course my favorite Kate Spade purse. All of these pieces have been featured on my blog multiple times, so that just shows how versatile basic pieces in your closet can be!

What are your favorite go to clothing items in your closet? Let me know in the comments down below! I hope you all have a fantastic and safe weekend!

Valentine's Day Picks

Kendra Scott Earrings // Pajamas // Alex and Ani Bracelet // Mug // Michael Kors Tote // Nikes

Hi everyone!

Today I'm sharing some Valentine's day goodies that I think that would be great to give as gifts to give to others or to even treat yourself. Low key want everything on here, everything is so cute! I've tried to give some gift ideas for each item I've shown here to give them a little more of a special touch.
Before I get into these goodies can we pause and acknowledge the fact that the PANTHERS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL?! I am so excited and already prepping for February 7th. Let me know if you're going to watch! Okay, now that's out of my system, on to the goodies!

Donut Pajamas - I love sweets, pink, puns and pajamas so obviously these pajamas have stolen my heart the second I saw them. Who said Christmas was the only holiday for gifting pj's? They're acceptable for every holiday! Bonus points if you give these with some actual donuts.

Alex and Ani Bracelet - You can't go wrong with jewelry for Valentine's Day. I think this would be cute paired with a small basket of candy and a note that says "sweets for my sweet!"

Mug - So I spotted this mug at Target and it look everything in me to not pick it up right away! It's so stinkin' cute!! Any coffee or tea lover would love receiving this. Also, you could fill it up with some Hershey kisses and write a cute note on it to give it an extra touch!

Michael Kors Tote - I have been on the market for a nice tote for a while just for School and work and I have fell in love with the color of this tote. I love the fact that it has a zipper and so sleek and simple. I am a handbag lover, so naturally I think handbags are a fantastic gift to give! You could fill the bag up with cute little notes and I'm sure who ever will receive this gift will love it!

Nikes - Pause. How cute are these running shoes?! If you give these as a gift I think it'll be super cute to decorate the box and write a note with something along the lines of "glad you walked into my life" or something along those lines.

I hope these ideas helped you on some gift ideas or even some ideas for you get to get yourself! I hope you have a great day and I'll be back Friday! (:

Puppy Love

Sweater: Forever 21 (super old, similar here) // White t-shirt: Old Navy // Pants: Forever 21 // Necklace: Forever 21 (similar) // Shoes: Target // Purse: Kate Spade (similar)

I feel like I have been on a roll with these animal printed clothing pieces lately! Also, I want to point out that my outfit posts for the next couple of months may feature clothing pieces that are either have been in my closet for a long time or I may be re-styled from previous outfit posts. Bottom line is, I probably won't be having new clothing pieces in my posts for a few months because of a couple of reasons.

1. I'm making it my goal this year to be better at managing my money. I went a little overboard last year and I just feel that I need to save more.

2. I have a lot of clothes. I mean, a looot. There are many things in my closet that have been in there for months and still have tags on them. I need to show some of my clothing pieces some love.

I'll try my best to find and link items that are similar to the pieces that I am wearing if the exact one is no longer in stock. After all, aren't fashion posts like this suppose to be used as inspiration anyways? I am making it my goal to not buy new clothes until April (because I cannot not go shopping on my 21st birthday, am I right?) so we'll see how I hold up!

Whew. That was a long spew. Now, on to my outfit!

So, I have had this adorable puppy dog sweater sitting in my closet for years and I probably have only worn it mayyyybee twice (see what I mean about needing to give my clothing pieces more love?) I always joke around with my friends saying this is my "old lady sweater" haha.

I paired this sweater with my favorite white tee from Old Navy and some maroon skinnies to give it a pop of color. I think this outfit is so festive for the Valentine's Day season because it just reminds me of Puppy Love (hence the title..).

I hope you all are having a wonderful day and let me know down in the comments below if you have ever had a break from shopping before. As a shopaholic myself I think this may be a slight challenge.. haha.
