Happy Wednesday friends!

The new year is here and if you're like me then you have already sat down and wrote out all of your goals for the new year. I mean, new year, new slate, new beginnings, right? Every year it's the same cycle, we set our new goals, go at it for a month (or two) and then life happens and we never get back on track with those goals again.

Today I'm sharing my tips top help you stick to your New Year's resolutions this year! So, let's get started now, shall we?

Set realistic goals
First things first, don't set yourself up for failure. Set realistic that you know are do able but are still a challenge for you. I mean, how do you expect to achieve your goals if the odds aren't in your favor?

For example, "I'm going lose 85 pounds by summer this year!" is probably not a realistic goal. Possibly saying "I'm going to lose 5 - 10 pounds by summer" may be more realistic, depending on your body type of course.

Make a plan
Now you have a realistic goal, it's time to make a plan! This may be my type A side coming out, but this can make all the difference! Whether it be a todo list, planning out your schedule for the whole year or milestones, making a plan of how to achieve your goals will help keep you on track.

Okay, so your goal is to workout five days a week for a whole year, how about trying to schedule to go to specific workout classes or a set time you would go to the gym ever day. You can also try planning out your workout such as when you're training legs, arms, etc. This way you know exactly when you need to workout and exactly what you're doing! Plus, it's always so satisfying crossing things out in your planner or todo list when you finish a task!

Reward yourself!
Now you have your plan all set up, reward yourself for reaching milestones. Went to the gym 5 days a week for two straight months? Treat yourself to that new sweater you've been eyeing. Managed to stay on top of all of your school work for the first half of the semester? Treat yourself to a fun activity you've been wanting to do! Rewards are a great way to help keep you motivated to stay on track of your goals.

Have someone to keep you accountable
Maybe you're goal is to workout more, grab a friend to schedule workout dates with you! Having a friend to motivate you along the way is not only fun, but effective too. I mean, who wouldn't want someone to help encourage them along the way?

Maybe you don't have a someone who can go along the journey with you, then try sharing your goal with a close friend, relative, parent, sibling, etc. You could write up a contract stating what your goal is and maybe throw in what your reward will be once you achieve it. You can sign it and give it to a trusty relative or friend and ask them to check in on you every once in a while to make sure you're staying on track!

Those are some of my tips on staying on top of your new year's resolutions this year. Let me know if you have any tips on how to stay on track down below! I'm wishing you all luck on your journey to reaching your goals and be sure to let me know what they are down below. Have a great day and as always, thank you for reading!
